Okay, so I was working in Delano as a temp for a Human Resources

department. I have never done this type of work, but have many, many

years office experience. I was not trained properly and was expected

to be perfect even without the proper training. The position kept me

very busy - it was really more than a one person job - and I love that

I was busy.

So, there was this one group of positions which actually had 4

different time frames to them. It was the same job, just one group

was first screened in December, the 2nd in early January, the 3rd in

late January and the 4th were already in the background screening

process - which was way beyond interviews and testing. Well, I was

told to schedule one of the groups for oral interviews and I thought

it was the 2nd group, because I thought the first group had already

had an oral interview. So we held interviews with a group that should

not have had it yet. That was my first big mistake. But, I thought

they understood why I thought that and that it was all good. I

scheduled the " first " group for this coming Friday. (I know this is

confusing, I hope I'm explaining it clear enough.)

Then, there were 2 girls that had ALMOST the same name. One was

already hired and the other was to be in the interview that I

mentioned above. When I couldn't get in touch with her on the phone,

I had put her application aside to try and call her again, but some

other papers were put on top of her application. I don't know if I

did it or if someone else did. Anyway, since I couldn't find her

application, and I was rushed to get the interview packets ready for

the 3 supervisors who were doing the interviews, I assumed I had the

person we already hired down to be here for the interview instead of

the other one. So I left her off the schedule, and as you guessed it,

she shows up. I still couldn't find her application until much later,

but we got through the interview and was TOLD it was all good.

Well, the next thing I know, on Thursday my " report to " person, the

director of HR wanted me to trade places with another temp who answers

the phones, makes copies, files, etc. which I would have been okay

with, but I'm not a quitter and I KNEW I could do the job. Plus the

other temp didn't want to do my job, she was happy where she was at.

So, I talked to the HR Director and told her that I felt overwhelmed

because of lack of training, and ALL the positions we were screening

for (there were 40 new positions alone - and they were all different)

that there isn't enough time to get it all done in an 8 hour day, but

I'd be willing to work overtime if needed, come in on Saturday...stay

late, etc. Also, I asked her to " give me the opportunity to prove

that I can do this job, " and I will do my best to show her that I can.

She told me where she was coming from - that in the past the HR Dept

was not well respected and came across as not getting the job done.

She needs someone who can help to change that. I told her I would do

everything I had to in order to make that happen. Again, when I left

that meeting, I thought it was all good.

Friday was another crazy day, but I got through it. The office was

closed today for the Cesar Chavez holiday, but the HR Director said we

should all come in to do some catch up work. When I left Friday, I

said, " So I'll see you on Monday. Is 8 okay? " She said 8 was good

and she would see me then. NOT FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, I get a call

from the Temp Agency I work for and was told the HR Director didn't

think I was working out and didn't want me to come back. WTF?! I

completely understand that I made some pretty big mistakes but like I

said, I thought it was all good. I THOUGHT she was going to give me

another chance to prove myself. She KNOWS I didn't get the proper

training, & I HAD good reasons for why I was confused and made the

mistakes I made. I'm really not upset that I won't be back

there...honestly, I wouldn't want to work for someone like that.

(Back-stabber.) I'm really more angry that she lied to my face like

that!

Oh, and I should mention that there were 3 managers that I was working

with - I pre-screened the applications and they reviewed them and

approved my decisions - and they ALL told me that I did and excellent

job and I was very thorough. AND I should ALSO mention the HR

Director would talk about one of the other employees there behind her

back CONSTANTLY about what a crappy job she was doing - which is SO

unprofessional and being in her position, she should KNOW that it's

NOT cool to do that. GRRRRRRRR!!! So, now, I'm all worried that the

Temp Agency is not going to work with me - and wondering what they

were told about me.

Okay, I'm done with my rant. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I've left a message with my Temp Agency to see if I can come in to

chat about what happened in more detail, but haven't heard back yet.
