Guest guest
Elissa, The first thing I want to mention to you is that we have all been down a road of doing everything possible that is out there to heal our children and unlock them. I have done many things and even started many things, but no to the extent of any of you. I realized early on that yes you do need to address the issues in the body, but the brain is the most important asset to the body. Without it your dead, not an organ that can be replaced like others. In order to help Jennah any further you need to address her brain issues. I have spoke many times regarding the Brain Balance Program. It is the founder Dr. Melillo's theory that when you address the issues of the brain first than the other issues will be addressed naturally. They also offer a nutritional program in addition to the hemispheric work that aids in the process of the two hemisphere's working as a whole. This nutrional program relieves the child of the deficiancies not found in food alone. I realized with our journey of my three children being on the spectrum, that as fine as it is to address the body, it is in fact the brain that needs to be truely addressed first. Brain Balance is the one and only program to address the child in a whole, non-invasive, all natural manner. This program works or I would not be telling everyone. Brain Balance worked with my son who had ADD. His allergies were so severe he could not leave the house because he was so sick. I looked everywhere just for answers as to his allergies, and with no help from no one. I did the profile they did and found out that he was so severely deficiant and his allergies were more than any test could give me. But by placing him in Brain Balance and allowing to experience hemispheric based healing, his allergies are now a thing of the past and he is a normal child. And nothing invasive, or harming was done to achieve a healthy child. I found out about Brain Balance because of my daughter Lori, diagnosed with PDD when she was five years old. By doing an all natural, GF, CF free diet, and by putting her on detox her nutritionist recommended, I saw her become worse and worse every day. She in fact ranked moderate autistic by the time we eventually realized that everything else was not working and enrolled her into Brain Balance. Her autism is a thing of the past, because the doctors there strengthen her brain by doing numerous things that addressed her specific needs. There was no detoxing. No urine, blood, or fecal testing. No medications, no vitamin shots, etc. And the best part is that she had not regressed. The fogginess you are seeing with Jennah is in fact her brain fatiguing. Listen to your instinct with her. And yes this does sound familiar. I had this with Lori, only to realize that the products that we bought from her nutritionist were indeed a strain on her body and in her kidneys, I stopped immediately. If this stuff is supposed to work, the autism numbers would be going down not up. Brain Balance is all under one roof, and they were the only ones to get her where she is now. The website for Brain Balance is www.bbcenters.org, in case you want to check it out. It is the greatest chance of unlocking Jennah. Peace and Take Care! Guest guest
, Thanks for posting information about Brain Balance. I went through their website, it sounds promising. We would appreciate more information on how it works, how they are different, what to expect when you go through this approach, freq of therapy/training, how their nutritional program is different from bio-med one, what other therapies/treatment approaches you continued along with Brain Balance etc etc. -Arjv_dad > > Subject: Regression with chelation HELP!> To: AutismBiomedGA , AutismBiomedGulfCoast , autism-georgia , chelatingkids2 , fam-girls-autism , GettheMercuryoutGA > Date: Saturday, June 28, 2008, 6:36 PM> > > > > > > > > > Jennah's latest urine toxic metals test, showed no improvement in heavy metal output from the last test and her "zoned out" look is back. Guest guest
and everyone, Thank you so much for all the posts- as I am sure you can understand I don't get much time to sit down and post any messages- so I appreciate any and all input to this latest setback. I think I have concluded this is a yeast problem (even though she is already on Diflucan) because of the chelation (it feeds yeast)...so we are going back to the DAN at the end of the month...I do feel worn out by all of this. I do plan on checking out the website you mentioned...in my spare time lol....maybe that will be the answer. I just feel so worn out by all of this. I also have a 2 yr old with spina bifida and all of her related issues...just exhausted lately. Anyway, thx again! Guest guest
I went there on 07/01 as scheduled. It was so much information so logical, I would recommend any one to attend it. I am thinking about going there again to better digest/understand it! , few questions for you: I understood "Functional Disconnect" and "Hemisphere based approach" aspects however still curious on how they do their treatments that molds brain plasticity to communicate better? In other words, what activities they impart on kids that would make "hemispheres connect"? some examples on communication and cognitive aspects would help. Dr Scier mentioned that for ASD kids, he would recommend 6 months (or may be 9 months) that makes me little skeptical. Do you remember any ASD kids who had to go for more than 2*12 week sessions? We have scheduled an evaluation appointment few months from now (time my son would turn 4 - per Dr Scier's suggestion) and we wanted to make sure that we start him on right nutritions sooner rather than later. At present he is on GFCF diet, Vitamin Supplement (multi, d, c, MB-12 shots), Reduced Glutathione cream, Pro-biotics and Omega-3. Could you comment on supplements that you would recommended for interim? Do you still see some signs of autism in her or some gaps on developmental milestones? I appreciate you taking time to point us in that direction and giving us all these information, Regards, Arjv_dad > > > > > > > > Subject: Regression with chelation HELP!> > > To: AutismBiomedGA@ yahoogroups. com, AutismBiomedGulfCoa styahoogroups (DOT) com, autism-georgia@ yahoogroups. com, chelatingkids2@ yahoogroups. com, fam-girls-autism@ yahoogroups. com, GettheMercuryoutGA@ yahoogroups. com> > > Date: Saturday, June 28, 2008, 6:36 PM> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Jennah's latest urine toxic metals test, showed no improvement in heavy metal output from the last test and her "zoned out" look is back. Guest guest
OK, I'm throwing my 2 cents into the ring about Brain Balance and Handle. 1. I did go to the Brain Balance 2 hour seminar about how they look at reinforcing the weaker hemisphere of the brain. I think its pretty solid advice. 2. I haven't found a parent who was dissatisfied with the program. 3. I did the initial intake with them and found out that my severe/moderate ASD child didn't really fit the profile for potential success. The problem - you have to have one prerequisite to really take full advantage of it - Your child has to have the ability to follow directions. At the time we did the intake, my child did NOT have this capability. Brain Balance offered a pre-Brain Balance alternative, but based on what I was told, I don't think it's as strong as their focused route, and looks a lot like regular ABA with some sensory thrown in to get them used to working with the people and equipment. For moderate to severe issues, you should consider using the Handle approach, developed by Judith Bluestone. I'll let you do your own research - search within this database on Handle and Judith Bluestone, or shell out the $30 to buy her book - The Fabric of Autism. There's a website out there somewhere. This post is getting kind of long, so I'll bottom line it for you. For hemispheric work to enable brain plasticity to help your child find the skills they need. 1. If you are severe/moderate, start with Handle. 2. If you can follow directions, start with Brain Balance. I sincerely believe that both approaches will take you to the same destination. PS - I don't have a solution for the money issue.
Guest guest
The questions that I have are as mentioned below: What do they do that would bombard weaker hemisphere? or how their therapies are different from regular OT/PT/ABA/Floor-time approaches? What would make my child participate in those activities? What should I do now that would prepare my child to the fullest potential for Brain Balance (or pre-Brain Balance) program? How their nutrition program different other nutrition programs such as bio-med intervention?
