Guest guest
Does anybody know of a great pediatrician in the north atlanta area who is willing to forego the vaccination schedule? Thanks,
Guest guest
We see Dr. Zucker at North Fulton Pediatrics. She doesn't necessarily agree with our decision but accepts it. In fact, her very words were that she hadn't walked in our shoes so she understood. There may be some pediatricians that are closer to a DAN approach but I'm not aware of any. The other good things about North Fulton Pediatrics is that you just park right in front of the building and they are one of the few practices to accept Medicaid. Dr. Zucker has also done a great job with all the paperwork we have needed over the years for our daughter.
Guest guest
Does anyone have any other recommendations for pediatricians in Atlanta (near Northside Hospital)? Not to start a huge discussion...but other than the MMR vacine, are there any other vaccines that I should be concerned about? My son is 4 yrs old and we stopped vaccinating him after his 2 yr checkup when we learned that he was autistic. So, according to my pede, he still needs the 2nd MMR shot, the last dose of the DTaP, a booster dose of Polio, 2nd dose of Chickenpox, and the 2nd dose of HepA. We have until he turns 6 to be considered " current " on his vaccines - after age 6, if we don't finish his vaccines, we will have to leave our pediatrician's clinic. I'm not opposed to vaccines...but since no one can tell me what actually caused my son's autism...I'm skeptical about giving him a vaccine that is not absolutely necessary. For instance, I know that there's huge debates on the MMR vaccine, so I really don't want to do that last dose and I think it's silly to vaccinate for chickenpox...but what about the polio and DTap vaccines? Thanks! > > We see Dr. Zucker at North Fulton Pediatrics. She doesn't necessarily agree with our decision but accepts it. Guest guest
We see Dr. Zucker at North Fulton Pediatrics. She disagrees with our decision (not to vaccinate) but supports us nonetheless. Remember you can have titres drawn to check for immunity. We did for MMR and although my daughter's last dose was at 15 months (she is now 6) her MMR levels were SKY HIGH - so high in fact we had to put her on anti-viral medicaition to try to bring the levels down. Thank goodness I didn't just go ahead with the vaccination. I would highly recommend Dr. Sear's Vaccination Book. He is not an extremist by any means and gives great information on each vaccination - pros, cons and the the way he sees it. You can make a decision vaccination by vaccination. I have used a form letter for Religious Exemption for all 3 of my kids this year and haven't had any problems. In fact, no one has asked me anything about it!
