Guest guest
I think that you should email Rashelle herself and ask her about it. She's a lovely wonderful lady. She posts here very often too so she may see your post! But personally, I don't know if we can just tell you how to do the breath. And besides that, it may only make sense if you can see it being done anyway. I don't post here often (but I always read the posts to see how everyone is doing), but all the ladies here will probably help with any questions you have. Best of luck! Guest guest
Dear Vicky, It is best to order the video and see the program in it's totally, however I will explain it to you as best I can. I know what it is like to have very tight finances but want to stress again that you will learn best from Rashelle and her videos. There is nothing that compares to seeing as well as following instruction. The aerobic breathing is accomplished by taking in a breath and blowing out through pursed lips as if you are blowing through a straw. When you have exhaled all your breath...no more left in your lungs you drawn in your breath through your nose with your mouth closed. Hold till at least the count of three and exhale with the muscles in your diaphragm forcing out the air usually sounds like your saying the word pah. You do this with mouth wide open as you exhale all this breath you tighten your muscles in your stomach area and or other areas as well and hold as long as you can hold your breath. This is done in a relaxed manner. Your shoulders should be loose, not tensed up. Rashelle made this routine to help regain health and she is a gentle lady and so is her exercise. You are able to sculpt your body by tensing certain areas as you do the breathing. On her videos she shows how to do different muscle groups as well as acupressure points for relief and stimulation of different areas of the body. These pressure points can help to direct the flow of the oxygen which helps to bring the healing. Rashelle has a sale on some of her tapes right now. It would be a good time to purchase one. Many people on the lists love one video over the other or the commuter cd Her address is LifeLift.net. I went there before writing this to see what was available there. Rashelle also has her newsletters posted on her site which can tell you how Life Lift has helped so many people to regain their health as well as loose unwanted inches and pounds as well as other helpful information. If you can't afford one by yourself maybe you could go together with someone else and buy one on shares until you could afford to get some of the other tapes. Most of us can eek out $20. plus postage and handling if it is something that we really want and are convinced it will help. I hope this has helped to convince you that it is really beneficial. If not, the testimonies at her website should. Virginia Re: New to this group. > > I think that you should email Rashelle herself and ask her about it. She's a lovely wonderful lady. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I really am not trying to get off scott free or anything. I really did want the videos. BUT, they are $60 (on the infomercial). I was ready to order until I saw that. I just can't come up with that amount any time soon. We're on a tight budget (extremely tight) and I have to save every penny to get my 22 month old whatever she may need. I have 100 pounds to lose. I've tried so many diets and exercise routines. And, now, my doctor even has me on diet pills (insurance doesn't cover this med at all) and the weight is STILL not coming off. I wanted to try this technique to see if it would help in any way. Heck, tried everything else...might as well try this. I would still like to get the tapes to find out everything about this technique, but just not possible right now. Thanks a bunch. Guest guest
Yes, I'm sure it was for Life Lift. I saw it on tv a couple nights ago. They did have a special where they'd drop one payment I think so that would make it $40 plus shipping. But, I still can't come up with that right now. I know that doesn't sound like much but I have so many other things I need (like household supplies, etc) that I need that extra $40 to put gas in the car, etc. That's why I got online to see what was available. I haven't visited the site yet. Thanks. Alisha > Hi Alisha, are you sure you saw an info for LL? Guest guest
Hi Alisha, Where do you live? I've never seen a LL infomercial. How many tapes were involved? Did they use a body exercise bar? Could it have been Body Flex instead of Life Lift? Love. Liz --- On Fri, 02 May 2003 17:47:53 -0000 " alisha0795 " <allen42@...> writes: > Yes, I'm sure it was for Life Lift. Guest guest
It sounds a lot like the BF infomercial (www.bodyflex.com). I haven't seen it but I know that the things you mentioned are what Greer offers. Rashelle taught Greer the technique (BF is kinda like a more hyper version of LL). As far as weight-loss vs. inch-loss: When you lose weight quickly it is likely that you are losing muscle. Therefore you may become flabbier and more dimply as a result (rather than beautifully slim and toned). The reason that inch-loss is the focus of LL more than weight-loss is because inch-loss is what shows fat loss. And besides, many people who talk about losing weight mean that they want to be slimmer/wear smaller clothing sizes. Inch-loss is what will bring this, not weight-loss. [Just wanted to point that out ] Good luck with whatever you decide to do! Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. It definitely sounds like your daughter has torticollis, it's a tight, twisted neck muscle and it goes hand in hand with plagiocephaly. You can learn more about torticollis by going here: http://www.pedisurg.com/PtEduc/Torticollis.htm http://www.infant-torticollis.org/ Physical therapy sounds like it is needed to help Lizzie's torticollis resolve. It is important to get the tort taken care of, if not the plagio will have a hard time getting corrected. If a baby is banded and receives great results but still has tort, there is a chance of regression. Do you know what type of helmet Lizzie will be getting? You can tell your ped that you want to see a Physical therapist, if only for an evaluataion. If you can try and find a PT that is familiar with torticollis. When is your appointment in OKC? Please keep us posted. > Hello. I'm new. My daughter, , is 5 months old (3 1/2 months > adjusted because she was born 6 weeks early). Guest guest
Thanks for the warm welcome . Liz's appointment is on April 14th. Her ped didn't tell us what kind of helmet she's going to be fitted for. We actually have to go to his office this Monday to get Liz's senergist (RSV shot) . I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things go well in OKC. My parents were nice enough to offer to watch my son so he doesn't have to sit in a doctor's office all day. Sincerely, > > Hello. I'm new. Guest guest
, It is REALLY important that you do your homework when it comes to bands and helmets. Bands and helmets in the hands of an inexperienced orthotist can do more harm than good. Please make sure your orthotist has PLENTY of experience in treating plagio babies with a helmet. Your pediatrician will be fitting Liz for her helmet? Or did he refer you somewhere? > > > Hello. I'm new. Guest guest
, Liz was referred to the neurologist. I've actually researched quite a few of the bands and helmets available, though I don't know which one will be used. As for the neurologist, one of his specialities is plagio babies. So in that regard, I'm not that worried. Thanks for the concern, > > > > Hello. I'm new. My daughter, , is 5 months old (3 1/2 > > > months > > > > adjusted because she was born 6 weeks early). Guest guest
Hi ! Happy 5 month Birthday to ! I also have an who is just over 5 months old (my due date was actually 11/11!). She also has plagio/tort (favoring the right side). I know how overwhelming this all is. was just DOC-banded almost 2 weeks ago. We have been in physical therapy for the tort for a little more than a month. How long have you been doing the stretching exercises with your ? Are you going to PT? You'll find this group to be extremely supportive and informative as you go through this. Best to you, Barb & Maine > Hello. I'm new. Guest guest
Hi , It's great that your ped seems to be on top of the tort/plagio. I'm sure others will chime in who used the same facility/speicalist you will. With an experienced ortho should see excellent results at her age. Guest guest
Hi Amy I dont think apraxia has anything to do with potty training. My son has apraxia he's 2 1/2 and potty training fine. It might be that he's just not ready. If hes lost interest- try brining the interest back- when my son lost interest- I started giving him m & m's- now he goes on the potty just for the m & m (hehe)

Guest guest
As a motor planning disorder, children with global apraxia will in fact have problems potty training...something that takes quite a bit of motor control. For those that strictly have it limited to oral apraxia - this is true...it shouldn't have an impact on potty training. But it seems many of our apraxic children have motor planning issues that are not just limited to their speech. -
Guest guest
Hi It took us 12 months to the day to toilet train my daughter Tabatha. I didn't feel that she was ready to train but she saw all the other kids going so she had to be like them. She had the idea sit on the toilet stay for a few minutes get off (wouldn't do anything) go and wash her hands then wet herself. We tried all the different tricks that we could think of IE stickers, m & M's, ice cream, but nothing worked. Then one day the penny dropped and she is now fully trained but at night she still wears a nappy. Tabatha was in family day care with the same carer for about 18 months and the carer stopped care. Tabatha went backwards in just about everything including going to the toilet. So we had to start back at square one and start all over again. It took about 4 weeks and it was hard but we got there. Maybe try giving it a break for a week or so and try again. You will get there but will just take time. All the best ine amyestabrooks <amyestabrooks@...> wrote: I have a 3 year old and he has apraxia of speech and we are having a very hard time potty training him. Guest guest
Hi, : I hope you take her to a psychologist who an ocd specialist or can immediately refer you to one. Your daughter's behavior isn't strange. Any one of us on this board (I'll wager) has seen very similar behaviors in our own children. Your daughter's fears/compulsions are very consisitent with OCD. You're taking the right steps, but please, please ask your husband not to punish your daughter for behavior she has no control over at this time. In the meantime (read through the posts and articles (files) here... you'll start to see a clear pattern in these kids, and you'll be able to discuss this with your psychologist armed with some good information on OCD. > > Hi, I am a 32-year-old mother of two daughters ages 9 and 4. Guest guest
Welcome, . Your daughter sounds like all our kids here, so I'd bet a million bucks on an OCD diagnosis. My son is also a spitter, and I've seen many others from this group with the same lovely ritual. Try to get your husband to lay off. Your daughter has no tools yet to fight her compulsions and it's both unrealistic and counterproductive to expect her to until she is in treatment. With my son, the more I caught him spitting, the better he got at hiding it. I thought he'd given it up until I ask and he tells me he's still doing it. If that were the worst of it, I think we'd all be happy to live with a bit of spit here and there. Hang in there. Help is on the way and you are doing the right things. --- lisarmomof2 <lisarmomof2@...> wrote: > Hi, I am a 32-year-old mother of two daughters ages > 9 and 4. Guest guest
Thanks for the encouragement. I talked to my husband today about the spitting issue and he said that he will no longer even acknowledge that she is doing it until we have our psychologist appointment and get some professional advice. I think he finally came to the realization (as I did) that you are just wasting your energy by trying to stop it at this point. I am just so sad for her. My poor little sweetie. What could be so terrible in her life and in her mind that is causing her to react this way. > > > Hi, I am a 32-year-old mother of two daughters ages > > 9 and 4. Guest guest
: There's nothing terrible in her life! It's OCD. It's a neurobiological disorder. I cry for these children, too. It is very sad, but it can get much, much better with treatment and education. When my son couldn't believe that he had to deal with this for (perhaps) the rest of his life, I would always tell him, " yes, and I'm as blind as a bat without my glasses, I wish I had perfect vision, but I have to wear glasses. " Think of the therapy and treatment she will receive as her " glasses. " You both will learn to cope. The wonderful part of it is is that these kids are generally intelligent, creative, incredibly sensitive and kind, and attuned to all the nuances of the world that most of us don't even think about. As Dr. Chansky has written: It's like instead of attention " deficit " disorder, OCDers have attention " surplus " disorder. > > > > > Hi, I am a 32-year-old mother of two daughters ages > > > 9 and 4. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. It definitely sounds like your daughter has OCD. I know it seems like forever waiting to get in to see a psychiatrist, but hang in there. Glad to hear your husband is going to lay off scolding her for spitting. If your daughter has OCD, she can't help it. I'm sure she would like to stop, but she just can't. It is not anything that happened to her in her life that is making her do this, it is a chemical inbalance in the brain and it is something she was born with. My 17 yr old son has OCD. He has contamination obsessions. He's a washer; constantly having to buy body wash, shampoo, hand soap, etc. He doesn't spit, but he blows his nose a lot and goes thru a ton of kleenex. The best thing you can do while waiting to see the psychiatrist is research. A good place to start is www.ocfoundation.org. Also try to find some books on OCD. A really good one is one written by Dr. Chansky is " Freeing your child from obsessive-compulsive disorder : a powerful, practical program for parents of children and adolescents " . You are not alone. Connie
