Hello Healinghope,

We have had wonderful results with ducks and chicks doing that very same thing.

The 1000 PPM available chlorine dioxide solution is a little strong for an

enclosed space, but if there is plenty of ventilation, it is the way to go. In

a more tightly closed space we use 500 PPM.

Oxine is a commercially available 2% sodium chlorite solution. If you can't get

that you can make the 1000 PPM solution from a 5% sodium chlorite solution.

Using 5% sodium chlorite you would put 33.3 ml of the 5% sodium chlorite into a

container and add enough water to make 1 liter. If you want to use 22.4% sodium

chlorite, you would use 7.4 ml. To make the 500 PPM available chlorine dioxide

solution just cut the amounts used in half.

Tom Thanks for the solution break downs. How about using this in a tri jet

fogger for mold issues, or just as a disinfectant.

Hello Healinghope,

That is a great application. I use it is both foggers and sprayers and have

found it to be very effective.

You have to watch for fumes. Fogging can begin to activate the solution and you

encounter chlorine dioxide gas. I wear a full face respirator when I am

spraying or fogging enclosed areas like crawl spaces. I would recommend

starting out with the 500 PPM available chlorine dioxide solution and working up

from there.

On the other hand, if you have sick birds in a coop, use the 1000 PPM available

chlorine dioxide solution.

Hello Healinghope,

That is correct. You simply add the sodium chlorite to water.

Tom,

Your post made me think of something. I don't know if you, or anyone here on the list is aware of the "white-nosed" bat mold tragedy or not. It is decimating the worlds bat populations as we speak. Quite literally, -they are dying off by the millions!

I wonder, if we could get in touch with those who are trying their best to conatain and fight this mold, -perhaps they could use MMS in foggers and sprayers to help the bats?

Hello Rod,

Good idea.

I don't know if we have any of the bats in our area, but what would have to be

done is someone in charge would need to be made aware of the articles that

Healinghope has posted links to, then Oxine would have to be made available to

them on a trial basis.

I don't have time to work on this right now, but I will put it into the wish

list.

Tom,

I have written an e-mail about this idea to Moultan Howe, an investigative reporter who covers this and other stories of a similar nature, such as the honey bee die-off as well.

She is a frequent guest on the Coast to Coast AM radio show, with host Noory. In fact, that is where I first found out about this terrible plague, myself.

will know what to do and who to contact, I believe. Her website can be found at: www.earthfiles,com

I will keep you posted.

Rod excellent idea, the bat population is in dire straights, and none of us

really know the long term consequence from their loss. Treating the bats and not

awakening them during hibernation would be the key. The fungus as I understand

is not killing them the aggravation of the fungus while hibernating is awaking

the bats and they freeze and starve to death, very sad indeed. The amount of

insects a bat eats is unreal, we will miss there presence. Like Tom I am very

busy this wish list should be followed by someone, hopefully you?
