Urgent need - call your legislator

Senator Moody's bill on Prior authorization, notice provisions and Medical necessity will be in committee this afternoon at 1:00.  At this point we do not have the votes to pass it confirmed.  We need parents to call their legislators or e-mail them and tell them they support this bill which will:

extend the time period for prior authorization from 3 months to 6 months;

ensure Medicaid (DCH) fulfills the notice provisions for denial (exactly what service the child is being denied and why)

and defines Medical necessity straight from the Medicaid statute. 

In other words, the bill supports the intent of EPSDT.

The Senators on the committee that need input from parents are:

Sen. Unterman

Sen. Greg Goggans

Sen. Don Balfour

Sen. Lee Hawkins

Sen. Judson Hill

Sen. Preston

Sen. Horacena Tate

Sen. Wiles

The remaining committee members have indicated they will support.  Please send an e-mail out to your list and ask parents who are constituents or who otherwise have a contact with these committee members to please call or e-mail them prior to 1 PM.
