Guest guest
We were told by more than one doctor that IVIG is only covered for about a dozen very specific diagnoses. Our insurance denied it outright, but for some strange reason when I resubmit the bills after they are paid they reimburse me about $900 out of the $2280 a month that we pay Kerrie hum, buie had mentioned it would be even by state insurence about 6 months ago when I mentioned we had a PANDAS dxPsssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
, we did our anti-body test for finding out whether my son has strep or PANDAS through blood work, it is partial covered by our insurance--blue cross blue shied. we only need to pay for very minimum copay. The blood test was done by Quest Diagnotisic lab. Sincerely, Rei Branch Manager Network Funding, LP 6070 Gateway East, Suite 509 El Paso, TX 79905 Phone: Fax: Cell: Less in Debt. More in Life. Insurance will not cover IVIG for PANDAS. You would have to run a complete immune panel including titers and hope to find something just wrong enough there to warrant coverage. Guest guest
My son was on Keto for about 2 months. He did very badly on it. He is on the following suppliments 5HTP Theanine Zinc Selenium Minerall Ora adrenal Chromium Picolinate Vitamin b6 Neem Tulasi(Holy Basil) Liv 52 DMG folinic/folate mb12 tablets Vitamnic C bh4 Cod Liver Oil. Grapeseed Extract/Oil of Oregano/Garlic ( he showed igg/ige to garlic and grapefruit.I did not test him for oregano!) I recently did IGE for him for 55 foods. He turned out to be allergic to about 45 of them. He was not allergic to Lamb. Whenever I give him Lamb he complains his neck is hurting. I tried it 3 times. He turned out to be allergic to chicken on the test. He tolerates chicken ok. I question the validity of the test. His yeast was quite high when the test was done. I did OAt also on the same day and that is how I know. His oxalates were also high. He was also allergic to turkey. These are the 3 meats I tested. The foods he was not allergic to were mostly spices. I do not know how to feed him without giving him allergic foods. My strategy is to avoid the foods which cause his neck to hurt. And give him the rest. It elimates a lot of food but we do have some foods which I can give him. I give him XYMOGEN to help him with the allergies. I also do mb12 shots and chelation with suppositories which I have recently stopped. They make him a nervous wreck. He has recently been mainstreamed with an aide and I cannot have him have temper tantrums in the mainstream classroom. He literally cries for 5-6 hours after chelation. We give him charcoal/magnesium flush and it helps a little bit but mostly he's a nervous wreck for that weekend. Guest guest
so are you doing GSE with what showed on the IGE test? how was the test done? was it a RAST< scratch skin, elisa panel??? can you do coconut as that is also a yeast fighter, so are things like caprilic acid and biotin, and high dose probotics. if you type out what you can't have I can help you come up with a plan on what you CAN have. if it's IGG this is this a whole different ball game. so make sure it says IGE and not IGG. (my guess would be it's the later with what you are discribing but that you also have IGE that is acting up as well) what have you done to address the yeast and oxilates? b6 can help with the oxylates. Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 This is Official--My son is a PANDAS > > > > Kid!!!> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on this group for more than 8 months, and my > > > > son has been diagnosed with autism for 7 years, and yesterday > > > was > > > > the first time we were told by DAN officially that our son is > > > > suffering from chronic strep infection, and his is one of the > > > PANDAS > > > > kids. Guest guest
My son was tested for IGE. The IGG was only for 35 odd foods out of 99. The IGE was for 45 of 55 foods. In vegetables he can have only cabbage, cauliflower. In grains he can't have anything. (quinoa, wheat, rice, buckwheat, millet) In meats he could supposedly have beef and lamb both of which he complains about neck hurting. I got him tested to lamb, beef, chicken, turkey. He can tolerate goat milk ok I think. He's allergic to coconut both IGE/IGG. He's allergic to grapefruit both IGG/IGE. He's allergic to garlic both IGG/IGE. I am not doing much to address the yeast right now. I do give him grapefruit extract though. I try giving him low oxalate diet. It's not always possible because I want to rotate the vegetables. Guest guest
Which is which? Re: Re: This is Official--My son is a PANDAS Kid!!! not really true. one of them DOES show recent exposure the other however shows ANTI ANTIBODIES to strep meaning autoimmune form of it, which is what defines PANDAS as those anti antibodies then attack the wrong things, like the brain, heart ect THINKING IT is strep Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! Read more about it on my BLOGs at http://www.myspace.com/christelking http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: This is Official--My son is a PANDAS Kid!!! I am confused and hope someone can clear this up for me. Our immunologist (who thank God has a lot of knowledge about Autism and PANDAS from what I can tell) said there is no definitive test for PANDAS. He said the ASO and Anti DNase titers just tells you that he has/had strep but doesn't confirm PANDAS. Is that the case? He is very open so if that isn't correct I would love to know more. Also, has anyone done IVIG for PANDAS? > > You can run ASO and Anti DNase B titers and also run a PANDAS profile > through _www.neurorelief.com_ (http://www.neurorelief.com) > > > Kerrie > > > > In a message dated 9/12/2008 2:32:27 P.M. Guest guest
Neelam, My son's oxalate level from the test is high, too. Our DAN told us to take Calcium Citrate 1000mg per day, and Magnesium Citrate 500mg ( both have to be in Citrate form), and Lot of fish oil ( omega 3, 6, 9). These three items play the most important role to metablize oxalate. He did not receommend low oxalate diet, it is too harsh to young kid... Subject: Re: This is Official--My son is a PANDAS Kid!!!To: mb12 valtrex Date: Saturday, September 13, 2008, 3:59 PM My son was tested for IGE. The IGG was only for 35 odd foods out of 99. The IGE was for 45 of 55 foods. In vegetables he can have only cabbage, cauliflower .In grains he can't have anything. (quinoa, wheat, rice, buckwheat, millet)In meats he could supposedly have beef and lamb both of which he complains about neck hurting. I got him tested to lamb, beef, chicken, turkey. He can tolerate goat milk ok I think. He's allergic to coconut both IGE/IGG.He's allergic to grapefruit both IGG/IGE.He's allergic to garlic both IGG/IGE. I am not doing much to address the yeast right now. I do give him grapefruit extract though. I try giving him low oxalate diet. It's not always possible because I want to rotate the vegetables.Regards,Neelam> > > > > >> > > > > > PANDAS, is an abbreviation for Pediatric Autoimmune > > > > > Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal > > > > Infections. > > > > > The term is used to describe a subset of children who have > > > > Obsessive > > > > > Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or tic disorders such as > > > > Tourette's > > > > > Syndrome, and in whom symptoms worsen following strep. > > > > infections > > > > > such as "Strep throat" and Scarlet Fever. > > > > > > > > > > > > The children usually have dramatic, "overnight" onset of > > > > symptoms, > > > > > including motor or vocal tics, obsessions, and/or > compulsions. > > > > In > > > > > addition to these symptoms, children may also become moody, > > > > > irritable or show concerns about separating from parents or > > > > loved > > > > > ones. Guest guest
Interesting about the calcium citrate. We were told similar. If we miss the cal citrate, my son will have many, many urine accidents in a day. The Cal citrate keeps this problem away. Anyone else???
