Guest guest
First Bonnie, how tall are you? That makes a lot of difference as to how much 20 pounds gain is. 120 pound loss could be a HUGE amount or just a lot. You know what I mean? I know how hard it must be for you to have lost that and then to have it slowly creep back up on you. I am just a little over three years out and I am scared to death that that will happen to me. I have lost 170 over the three years and I am five six, so twenty pounds wouldn't be as noticeable on me as if I was only five foot, but to me it would make me feel like it was a ton, so I know where you are coming from. Have you tried sticking with primarily protein and water? I know several have had luck with that sort of thing. Mostly staying away from carbs is what has been what has been recommended for us. Just don't try to do it all in say one month. You gained in 18 months, so don't put your body through the stress of trying to take it off in a month. Take it slow and make it permanent. You can do it. I have no doubt. You made it the first time, so you know you can do it. Don't stay away from us, keep us informed of how you are doing. Let us hear from you and I am sure there are others who will have something more to tell you about how they have lost their rebound weight. Just know it happens, and we all understand and will be here to support you. Pearl **************Planning your summer road trip? Check out AOL Travel Guides. Guest guest
Pearl, thanks for the reply. I'm 5'8 " . My GP has me on 3 different antidepressants and I'm thinking that's not helping matters. I'm going off two of them, slowly. Carbs have been a real problem for me lately. I will up my protein and try to cut out the carbs. It's just so depressing to have to deal with this again. Thanks again, Bonnie Pearlmae@... wrote: First Bonnie, how tall are you? That makes a lot of difference as to how much 20 pounds gain is. 120 pound loss could be a HUGE amount or just a lot. Guest guest
See Bonnie, it is that scale that is making you depressed. Hide it for awhile. Then just do what you know you should. Only weigh like once a month. Then you won't drive yourself crazy. There is no way you can gain or lose two pounds in one day. That is just water weight. So just do what you know is right and it will come off. Think about how many extra calories you would have had to have eaten to actually have gained two pounds. You would have had to have eaten an extra 7000 calories. Now come on, you didn't do that. Not in one day. So relax. Get rid of the scale. It is going to drive you crazy. Try not looking at it for one month. Really. Doc would tell you that. He has told us that many many times. Besides it takes time for food we eat to build up and stay on our bods. What you ate yesterday doesn't stay on your bod today. Oh some maybe, but you don't eat enough to make that scale jump up two, three or more pounds. That is just water, hormones or whatever weight. Not real weight. It will drop of its own accord. Just keep working in your garden. Enjoy the outside and enjoy the hundred pounds you still have off. You are going to be alright. I am sure of that. Try some of Martas tuna on whole grain bread. I have not tried the sprouted grain bread, so I cannot speak for how good that is, but try it. She has some recipes on file. Try them like she said. She has gained and lost thirty pounds and she is a " shorty " . Don't hit me Marta. LOL She really is short, like five foot tall. So that is a lot for her to gain and lose. She looks great now, but she has been there and done that. You can do it. Pearl **************Planning your summer road trip? Check out AOL Travel Guides. Guest guest
Ginger, Boy, have you got me nailed. I also have to eat everything (ie carbs) in the house before I can eat right . That is my downfall. Tomorrow is always a better day to eat right. I have eaten Dannon Light & Fit, which is carb controlled, as a bedtime snack for awhile now. But... then I decide I need some toast or chocolate to really satisfy my cravings. I think I need a serious attitude adjustmenI will try harder. I'm going to ask my husband to throw out all the sweets. I just can't do it myself! He doesn't eat them. Personally, I think that is just WRONG! Maybe I can match your 5 pounds. That would be awesome. Thanks so much for your support. Bonnie Ginger wrote: HI Bonnie, I think you answered this for yourself.. You said carbs have been a real problem for you. I had a spurt awhile back where I had the same problem.. Lots of stress etc.. I was eating carbs (especially chocolate) ... cuz I thought I could get away with it. Well they found me and stuck around for awhile. I have been cutting them out...after I ate them all that were in the house of course ( LOL) ..after all couldn't let them go to waste ! Also had to get the cravings out of my system. I am almost 5 yrs post-op and it was like the old nightmare food cravings coming back... At the store I found 5 grain wheat thin crackers that are healthier than regular wheat thins. I also found I am in love with yoplait light yogurts.. they have some wonderful flavors and they are good for us.. Now that I have the carb cravings gone..I have lost 5 pounds in about 10 days and the cravings are about gone too. Oh I also like the sf chocolate mint pudding cups when I have to have chocolate... I think it is a lot easier to lose those pounds now than ever before. Hope that helps. Ginger <>< > First Bonnie, how tall are you? Guest guest
More on this subject. I know that muscle weighs more thna fat and I excercise. Thing is, My clothes do not fit any different than in the last few months when I lost weight. Could I be adding muscles in other areas, like my arms and legs to cause weight gain? Just a shot in the dark. I hit my lowest when I had diarreah for a week. Oh to bring back those days........lol Vicki
Guest guest
Thanks Bobbe, will do. Bonnie BobbeDS@... wrote: Bonnie - ONE protein drink a day isn't gonna do it. Try mixing one scoop with 1/3 cup water to take your pills 4X daily. That will cut down on the carb cravings. Cuting down on carbs will take away the bloated feeling. See, it's all good!
