Guest guest
You may want to look into a regime of probiotics under the supervision of someone that understands how they work inside the body. Simply adding them to your diet may not be enough. You may have to follow some specific instructions to get your normal flora back in shape. Tom Years ago hubby and I researched probiotics. We read a book written by the woman who founded Natrum...Natasha Trenev. In the book it was explained why standard probiotics are basically minimally ineffective. I'll see if I can find and excerpt. I wish I could remember word for word how it went but something like the probiotics are ripped from their native environments, raped (centrifuge) packed up, sent on, then are supposed to hit your body in this traumatized state and be effective. The natren products are expensive http://store.natren.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=N & Screen=CTGY & Category_Code=all_products & gclid=CPiB7bLg16ICFQ5c2godcRJ0wQ naturopath friend told us about the Seattle study...i can't find the link yet...and most of the high dollar probiotics on the market are not really what they say they are on the bottle and basically useless. Interesting that some of the ‘cheap’ brands did better in the study than the high dollar ones. We have found here at our sanctuary, after trying more probiotics than we care to recall that kefir grown from kefir grains is the most effective method of replenishing your flora. We have tried store bought, special order, on the beast and ourselves. When I added water kefir to the animals food I noticed a huge shift. We used the milk kefir for ‘intensive’ care situations. Dom's kefir site has a lot of good information and the two forums are excellent http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html the water kefir, while not as potent as milk kefir, is a wonderful refreshing drink. While drinking it hubby passed parasites that were visible to the eyes. Maybe I did to...didn't want to look J there are folks on the list that will send you grains for the price of shipping. Dom has some interesting strains for sale and it’s a pittance compared to probiotic prices. Nice thing about your grains is they multiply and go on forever (if you don’t neglect them like we did). We plan to get more grains and start again. If we had some going I would just send them to you. Imho all the probiotics for the most part, with the exception of Natren, which seems to be reputable, is a waste of money and hope. When I compare kefir to Natren there is no comparison. Kefir will replenish your flora…and it is the gift that keeps on giving Xxx rose
Guest guest
The only thing I will say is that RECENTLY people have been having trouble with Dom. He takes the money they send and does not send the grains nor send the money back. He tells them he's in financial straits. I will also say that I have ordered from him in the past and he was always completely responsible, sent my grains on time and always answered any questions I have. But I am only repeating what I have heard on the kefir list I'm on, hoping to save anyone thinking of sending to Dom for grains. There are other places on the web to get them, and if you join one of the kefir , people will either sell you some grains or--by being on the list and posting where you live, many times members that live in the same area will just give you grains if you go and pick them up. Well, too bad. I was thinking of ordering some of his milk grains bc the ones that were given to us locally never really reproduced like they should have and we gave them many choices of milk. Too bad about Dom…I’ll have a peak in on the kefir forums
