WWYD During PG?

DH and I have been thinking about ttc #2. Our 3 year old ds has

autism. We are doing the DAN approach, but haven't gotten far enough

along in the process to try antivirals yet. (Our DAN wants ds's gut

issues resolved first).

Anyway, I have a history of getting cold sores especially during pg. I

strongly suspect this has something to do with ds's asd, but of course

I can't say for sure. I just know there is a herpes virus in my body,

and suspect that I also had some sort of infection during my pg as

well. I had lots of trouble breathing during my pg with ds, that

suddenly got better when he was 3 months old after I went on

antibiodics for a week due to injuring my toe. I've been experiencing

similar breathing troubles lately and don't know if it's just

allergies or something else going on. Either way, we're wanting to ttc

again in the next few months and I think my doc might find me nuts if

I just schedule an appt in hopes of getting antibiodics just in case:)

I'm wondering what suggestions anyone might have for how to address

this issue during pg, especially as it relates to the herpes virus

that causes cold sores. Has anyone gone on Valtrex during pg to

prevent your baby from getting the virus, and if so did you have

trouble, reservations, or negative effects from it? Were you on it

prior to pg, or did you start once you were pg? Did your doctor give

you a hard time getting a script for it even if you don't have genital

herpes? Am I completely nuts, and this is not a good treatment during

pg?

Any suggestions/advice on what to do during pg to hopefully prevent

asd would be appreciated.
