ADEKs Update

and I talked with a customer service supervisor at Axcan

Pharmacuticals today. The company was very appologitic about the shortage

of ADEKs. We were told the April shipment from their manufacturer did not

meet their quality control standards and had to be destroyed.

Unfortunately, that was the whole supply for late spring and summer. They

have another manufacturing run in progress, but don't expect it to be

available until late July or early August.

They are also sending me some literature on the AquADEKs product, enough

that I can take some to my appointment with Dr. K. later next week. I'll

ask him for his opinion about using that as a substitute for the regular

ADEKs tablets and get permission to post the response here.

I have about 90 tablets left in my personal supply. I've cut back to one a

day just to try and keep a little semblance of normalcy in the routine, and

that should get me through to the end of July. Hopefully, the new shipment

will be in by then.

One thing I think the customer service people were a bit surprised about

was the fact that GR-DS patients are some of their best customers. When

they developed ADEKs, they were targeting a small percentage of the

population that could not absorb fat-soluable vitamines. They were looking

at specific medical problems, but had not considered any type of WLS in

their computations. The supervisor I talked with said he would take that

information back to the department responsible for getting the product from

the manufacturer and indicated they may have to reevaluate the amount they

order at any given time, taking in to consideration a larger market than

had been forecast.

Either he's very sincere and concerned about the effects of potential

shortages or he knows all the right words to keep unhappy customers

smiling. We'll just have to wait and see.

Hey Jerry

I am taking the Aquadeks already. One thing to note, they give me a tasty

burb afterwards, if you know what I mean.

Kinda like when you take fish oil and then can taste it an hour later.

I started Geneva's liquid vitamins last Monday. first day was horrible because I

tried to do it " straight.' I mixed it with tomato juice and it's pretty " doable "

with no aftertaste nor any revisit later.

Hey Jerry,

Just wanted to let you know the pharmacy in our building has ADEKs if

you want to get some while you are here. I am not sure how many bottles

she has left but she did inform me that she had some when I mentioned

the shortage. You have to ask for them because they are kept here in the

back.

Melody - I'm not Dee, and I won't claim to know everything she does! But I

only take Calcium with an extra Dry Vitamin D and my Daily

Multi-vitamin/mineral as well. I was 6 months out Monday and Dr. K told me

today that I'm doing well and my labs are great. I could be wrong, but,

ADEK's will be added if and when it's needed.

Hi Jo, Thank you, I'm almost 9mos out I'm down 80 lbs as of my last weigh in and

I feel like I don't know as much as I should. I know I don't come on here as

often as I should. I don't exercise and I'm stressed out with the court battle

on trying to be able to help my grandson. I must say though that I've gone from

a size 24/26 W to a size 16/18 16W fits better than 16 misses, I think it's

because my hips spread after I had babies. I don't think I'll ever be a size 6

or even a 10 for that matter, I'll be happy wearing a size 14 maybe 12. One

thing I know for sure though is I'm loving my DS and I'm happier and feel better

than I have in at least 20 yrs. anyway, I was told by someone else in the group

the same thing so you're right and I appreciate you letting me know, like I said

I'm almost 9 mos out and I didn't know. I don't know what to do to get myself

motivated to exercise, I have a tread mill and a Gazelle and a exercise ball,

heck I even have palates and I can't

seem to find the energy to do anything. I'm currently working on this court

case, all of my kids have turned against me, I'm trying to clean all of the junk

and overflow out of my bathroom so I can clean it up and fix it up the way I

want it, we just have too much stuff and I need to get rid of more stuff. We're

also working on getting licensed to be Parents. Thank you for your

prayers and friendship I hope we get a chance to see each other if I make it to

Delano on my 1 yr anniversary. We'll have to keep close contact with each

other, when the time gets closer maybe you could let me know what day or evening

is good for you before I schedule my appointment, they usually make it on a

Weds. in his office, I usually see him when he comes into Ukiah for our group

meeting but I was thinking of coming to Delano just because it'll be my 1 yr

anniversary...:-)

Well I hope you're doing good...are you still working for the temp agency? or

did you get a permanent job? I hear you're down 95 lbs...that's great!!!! You

must be dropping sizes too :-) you never know you might be one who gets down to

a size 6 :-) I think my bones are bigger than that....LOL well take care and

write when you have time.

Hugs
