Guest guest
Hello , Correct. The most effective way to activate sodium chlorite with 10% citric acid is to use it in a 1:1 ratio and let the activation continue for 10 minutes. Is the more effective activiation ratio per the industrial hygienists who looked at it for the above 1:1? > > thanks! >
Guest guest
Tom thank goodness for you! Why is Jim Humble's info not correct in this regard -- did I read/hear that he was using vinegar as the activator? > > > Hello , > > Correct. Guest guest
Hello , I believe that Jim Humbles information about activation is not correct because he doesn't understand the chemistry involved with acidified sodium chlorite... He started using vinegar as the activator because he new that was available throughout the third world countries. His 5:1 activation ratio is pretty good for vinegar, but citric acid is a different chemical. Different acids react with sodium chlorite differently, so you have to do testing to determine the most effective ratio of the acid you use. I believe Jim Humble did some testing with vinegar and simply thinks that all acids behave the same. Now that he has his training center established, I hope that they will spend some time testing various solutions. When he " discovers " proper activation ratios, he will issue a new protocol to incorporate them. It only took me a few months to figure this out, but I have a background in testing and outside of industrial applications I don't think this information is generally known.
