A Guided Prayer for (Inner)Peace (and Forgiveness)byGregg Braden Mentally note one or two people or circumstances who or which have hurt you or caused you suffering or pain; who or what caused the hurt? How was everyone involved affected? Hold these thoughts in your mind now. Relax. Breathe deeply and slowly from the abdomen. This is the deep yogic breathing which signals our bodies that we are about to engage in a sacred process. Bring into your focus a single soul or situation which brought suffering to you or your life… Say, "I bless myself in the suffering. I bless myself so that I may know myself in the suffering. I bless myself in this experience. I bless myself for all the hurt and for all the ways of knowing what this experience has caused. I bless myself." In your mind's eye, visualize the individual who or situation which caused the suffering you experienced;call them to the fore of your mind. Now bless them. Say, "I bless those who've inflicted this pain on me. I bless those who have taken from me the things I love and hold dear. I bless those who hurt me. I bless those who have taken that which I cherish." Now, here's the hard part…because in our traditions today it is hard to bless those who have hurt us in the past. It is hard. This is where we grow the most. I invite you to hold onto to this process because this is where we begin to gain the most power. "I bless those who have in the past hurt me." Feel the warmth in your body as you say those words, think those thoughts, feel those feelings. Feel it well up from deep in your stomach, in your heart. Feel it well up around your neck, in your face, around your eyes, through your arms and yours legs. Don't be surprised if this warmth turns into tears, because those tears are the release of the pain that you hold within your body and that is where the healing begins. And that's where you find your greatest power. "I bless those who have hurt me in the past or caused me suffering. I bless myself in the witnessing and the watching myself go through my changes and go through my pain." And this is an important step because we're so conditioned to think about and bless others and always put ourselves last that sometimes we're so last we don't even get considered. "I bless myself in the witnessing…" And you do this again and again and again until you feel this experience in your body and you feel your feelings begin to shift. When you feel you are complete with this phase of the blessing and if you wake up tomorrow morning and the person or event this has hurt you is still fresh on your mind, then you are ready for "The Gift of The Blessing" once again. And you do the same thing again. Each time when you do this you will feel a little different. And it's this difference that gives you your power over the experience you cannot change, however you can change how you feel about it. The key in "The Gift of The Blessing" is in being specific. Be specific with names, dates, places, people because this is what brings those memories so powerfully into mind and this is what conjures those emotions so powerfully in our hearts. Be specific. So once again take a deep breath and open your eyes if you had them closed. Center yourself… ~End~Excerpt taken from The Gift of The Blessing Audio CD by Gregg Braden ©2000

Dear kind-hearted Ali,

This was a much needed prayer for me at this time. I have had a

misunderstanding with a friend and we have used cruel words to offend

each other and are not talking much as we have before. It deeply

saddens me but I realize that I HAVE grown from our spat. This was a

very healing prayer, I shall also practice this for past hurts. It

has become easier as I have grown to bless others and try and realize

they have their own concerns/issues too. At the really challenging

times, it is still tough, yes, but this prayer resonates with my

inner self. I would like to thank you so much!! A mantra I have

chosen from this message/prayer is this: I bless Myself. I bless

___________ (person whom hurt me, hurts themself also)...Have a

wonderful day, my sister!! Namaste, Raven
