Director of the Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Center and Psychiatirc Services at the Marcus Institute

Topic: Psychopharmacology in Children and Adolescents

with PDD/Autism Spectrum Disorder

Dr. Roy is the Director of the Pediatric NeurodevelopmentalCenter and Psychiatric Services at The Marcus Institute, an affiliate ofKennedy Krieger Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. He currently serves asAssociate Medical Director of the institute and is also an AssistantProfessor of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. After training, Dr. continued on faculty with VanderbiltU

niversity working with developmentally disabled children and adults, aswell as several other specialty populations. Additionally, he taught atthe medical school specializing in subjects related to sexuality indisabled and chronically ill persons. He was involved in teachingemergency psychiatric care to interns and residents, and he was thedirector of the Schizophrenia Clinic at Vanderbilt.In 1993, Dr. became the medical director for the Mental Healthative in Nashville. Over six years he was instrumental in leadingthe effort to create a comprehensive system of care for chronicallymentally ill adults and children that included outpat

ient, in-patient,and mobile crisis care for the city. He continued as adjunct faculty atVanderbilt and was involved in research and teaching at Vanderbilt aswell as Meharry Medical School, East Tennessee College of Medicine, andthe University of Tennessee School of Social Work.In 1999 Dr and his family moved to stown New York wherehe continued to work with children and adult

He also ran achild psychiatric clinic at Bassett Healthcare, a comprehensivehealthcare facility affiliated with Columbia University Medical School.He continued to lecture and tea

ch colleagues, medical students andresidents from Columbia as well as the New England School of OsteopathicMedicine.In 2002, Dr. accepted a position with the DeKalb CountyCommunity Service Board in Georgia to help develop a comprehensivesystem of care for the children of DeKalb County. In this process, hehas been affiliated with the juvenile court system and the foster caresystem in DeKalb County. He was subsequently asked to join the facultyof the Marcuus Institute and has been working to develop comprehensivepsychiatric services for children and adults with developmentaldisabilities.Dr. is devoted to developing a comprehensive and humane systemof care for children and adults with developmental disabilities. He isactive in several community organizations aimed at making full inclusiona reality in our community. He is also the father of a son withPervasive Developmental Disorder and Mental Retardation.
