Guest guest
For my son, his noise sensitivities came from not being able to process salicylates - naturally occurring in some foods like berries, apples, tomatoes and almonds. Have you ever looked into this? If not, check out www.feingold.org. This diet has helped with a lot of symptoms including this one. Guest guest
We did the Tomatis method with our son and found it very successful in helping him tolerate different frequencies. He had literally stuffed cotton in both of his ears to block out the noise. Turned out he had fluid in both ears as well. When the ENT pulled out the cotton and put in tubes to drain his ears he flipped out and was so sensitive to noises we couldn't take him anywhere. Tomatis helped immensely with sound sensitivities but we also so gains in fine motor skills, auditory processing, spatial awareness and language gains. I once read that Tomatis is like the tree trunk, Berard is like the tree branches and other methods such as earobics are the leaves on the tree. We started with Tomatis after reading that analogy, and having a Tomatis clinic recommended to us (Spectrum Center, which was in Bethesda, MD and is now in NY). My understanding is that the Spectrum Center will do home programs now. Good luck, Kay Berry
