Guest guest
Donna, Vilik, There is a part in the back of the brain in charge of impulse control. Some people lose it when they receive a blow to the back of the head. Nice people have become violent after mild brain injuries. Total personality change. And, something about aging diminishes the ability of that area of the brain to control anger anymore. This is the reason many older people may act angrily when they never expressed it before. I read a brief article about it a few months ago. It is a common condition in older people. jim Donna wrote: >Hi Vilik. People with brain injuries often express rage and profanity. Guest guest
I saw a young guy get acute schizophrenia after a fall off a ladder once. The hardware store sent him in for adjustments. We helped his back but not the mental abberation. He had the strangest speech pattern I ever saw. After medication, he was understandable again. Interesting case. jp There is a part in the back of the brain in charge of impulse control. Some people lose it when they receive a blow to the back of the head. Guest guest
Where could we get more information about this condition? I'm sure head injuries, even mild ones, cause more problems than many people realize. Serita
Guest guest
Yeah, I'd be angry too. That is ridiculous and in violation of slaw, which is Federal, never mind State. I do not know who to contact in No. Carolina. I'd suggest looking up your State Department of Education on the Internet and also, the Divorce Order should say something about the type of custody which exists for the child, such as " the parents share joint legal custody " and it may be more specific; depends on what was asked for at the time of the divorce or at the most recent custody hearing. Whatever Order regarding custody is most recent is the one which is upheld as current. Whoever you contact will need to know what is in the Order regarding the custody specifics (and a copy of it). Sorry, in NJ I could help you a bit more. But, depending on what it says, I might. It's just that States differ some re Special Education and Divorce. In the meantime, also try Pacer.org and do a search under divorce. I think they might have some info that applies to all States? Hope I'm right. > > Hello > > I am so friggin' ANGRY at my son's school district right now. Rather than vent all over ya'll, I was wondering if anyone who has in- depth knowledge of the legal aspects of special education in Northern CA can email me back? The school district is doing so many illegal things and now they won't even talk to us, my son's parents, because they say only one of us can have educational rights and unless and until we get a FRIGGIN' COURT ORDER stating which one of us they should speak to about our son, they won't speak to either of us. > > No, I'm not kidding. I wish I was. And all this while my 6 year old son is still not in school because they won't put him in anything except a school for emotionally disturbed children who can't even take autistic kids per State guidelines! Not to mention the fact that my son is autistic and not emotionally disturbed *eyeroll* > > Okay, I said I wasn't gonna vent all over ya'll. *vent vent vent* *kicks something a lot* > > Thanks > > Melinda >
Guest guest
I would suggest joining AutismCA yahoo group as many are in that part of the state. I am in Los Angeles. Have you seeked help from your regional center? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AutismCA http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AutismInterventionNorthernCA We have a parent resource network/complaint response unit here in LAUSD. Do they have anything like that in Northern CA? What is the name of the school district? There are also chapters of ASA that you could contact and see if there is an advocate.
