Guest guest
Pearl Dr. K was there. One of the main points was talking about how having WLS for patients with a lower bmi can be beneficial. Which brought up the Adjustable Lap band and the improvements made to the band to prevent slippage and how for a narrow group of patients (those with lower BMI's) could perhaps benefit from having an adj. lapband. He passed around the older version of the adj. lapband and the new version...explained why the changes made a difference. Dr. K will be offering the Lapband to patients he feels will benefit. He also talked about a new procedure that reduces the size of the stomach by basically using an endoscopic procedure...which means NO CUTTING! Of course it requires a specialized tool. Dr. K said it wouldn't be good for reducing the size of a DS stomach because of our staple line...especially since that staple line runs along the greater curvature of the stomach. As always Dr. K was keeping his patients in the fore-front of WLS knowledge. You would have enjoyed the meeting and the visual presentation.
