White blood cells release this natural oxidant to fight invading pathogens. When an invading pathogen or infection threatens a human cell, the body's immune system responds by destroying the pathogen before it can harm the cell. The invading pathogens are engulfed by white blood cells called neutrophils by the process of phagocytosis. This antimicrobial process is called the Oxidative Burst Pathway. The Human Response When a wound breaks human skin, it creates a gateway for harmful pathogens to invade human cells. Neutrophils, which are a type of white blood cell, live in human blood vessels. When pathogens invade a human cell, neutrophils travel to the infection site to destroy the invading pathogen. The first step in this process is engulfing the pathogen. Once the neutrophil has completely surrounded the pathogen, it produces an oxidant, hypochlorous acid. Hypochlorous acid is a biocide, meaning it kills organic material. Guest guest Posted August 25, 2010 Report Share Posted August 25, 2010 Hello Healinghope, Are you suggesting that ingesting hypochlorous acid is the same as the white blood cells engulfing the pathogen and once it is removed from the blood stream secreting hypochlorous acid to kill it? Hypochlorous is a wonderful disinfectant. It is used in many water treatment plants to disinfect drinking water. We know the process as chlorination. Sterilox is used to disinfect hospital equipment, counters, and dental water systems. I noticed that when disinfecting ceramic tiles, they found that 200 PPM available free chlorine was effective. I can't seem to find the concentration involved with MMS2. Do you happen to know what it is? I also noticed that the Sterilox testing found that with stainless steel surfaces only 20 PPM available free chlorine was needed for disinfection. Do you think inside the human body is more like stainless steel or ceramic tiles? I also see that Sterilox is FDA approved for several external uses including misting spray on fruits and vegetables in the supermarket. Imagine that, spraying chlorinated water on fresh fruits and vegetables to minimize decay. The downside of using hypochorous acid to chlorinate is the production of THM's as a disinfection by product.
