Your Spiritual Relationship with Money

Your Spiritual Relationship with Moneyby Reverend Baltz Seek ye first that which gives you everything and everything shall be given to you.--The Bhagavad Gita Stop a moment and read that quote again. Just about every spiritual tradition has a version of it. I was reminded of it again not that long ago by one of my spiritual teachers. He noted that when spiritual masters say to do something first, he sits up and pays attention! So do I. When we think of money, we usually don't think about it as a spiritual issue. But money is really just a marker for the transfer of life energy. If you think about it, money isn't really a tangible thing…it has no value in and of itself, only the value we assign to it. And yet we spend a lot of time worrying about our money, bemoaning the lack of it, trying to acquire more. We sacrifice our health and time working in jobs we hate for it, lose people we love over it, go into tremendous fear about it, feel constrained by it, and sometimes even kill each other for it. All for an intangible that we think will make us happy, but seems to have the opposite effect many times.

As a clairvoyant, I have read many people from all walks of life…and you'd be surprised how many wealthy people are still stuck in thinking that they don't have enough. Money itself is neutral…. but we put tremendous emotional charge on it. Take a moment and breathe and think about your money situation right now. How do you feel about it? Notice what you feel in your body when you think about it. If you're like many people, you might notice that you are not fully comfortable thinking or talking about your money space. Notice if you have ever experienced fear or survival when thinking about your money. Or if you just don't want to think about it at all. Part of the emotional charge is because most folks see money as a tangible thing, coming from outside, rather than a flow of energy that comes from within. Our money comes from a job, a boss, a client, our family, from the bank.

Because money seems like a thing that originates outside, with someone else, we give up our seniority to it…we let it be bigger than us. And then we come from a place of fear or contractedness rather than love and empowerment. But what if you were to relate to your money from a space of love and joy rather than from fear or survival? Your nature as a spirit is love. But it is easy to get stuck in the darker places if you don't start by remembering that. "Seek ye first that which gives you everything…and everything shall be given unto you." Where might one find "that which gives you everything?" Jesus gave us a great clue when he said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven within." All life is made of the same energy.

Call it God, call it the Universe, call it All Life…we are all part of the same living, connected energy flow. It flows within you as much as it does anywhere else. By saying hello to the energy of God that flows through you, it's easier to see that the creative flow within you is every bit as "good" as it is anywhere else. We live in an amazing world where it is possible to create almost anything. Each person has a different path, with a myriad of creations waiting to be born. It's easy to look at what other people are creating, think it better somehow than what we are doing, and go into competition with them. If you go through life trying to create someone else's dreams rather than your own, you are not starting with Source. When you start everything by saying hello to God within you first, and keep doing it no matter what, your persistence will begin to clear out all of the other "stuff" that is competing for your attention. This doesn't mean to just say hello to Source and do nothing. It means to FIRST say hello to Source, and work with the energy that flows from there.

If you find yourself getting stuck, go within again and say hello to your Source, and notice how quickly that brings you back to yourself. This is a terrific thing to do when you are working with your money, considering a new job, creating something new, or communicating with someone you love. Think of it as a way to reset your energy in harmony with the Divine—not a quick fix, but a starting point for your creations. Copyright © 2002 Reverend Baltz. . After reading this, it dawned on me that when we are directed towards a healing situation, we find that it is not simply about directing energy or working with various methods and ways and we are done. As we "tune in", we begin to become aware of deeper things that will serve as part of the healing...addressing the root causes of the issue.

While we may direct healing to an injury or illness, we should become aware of the removing, or at least the reminding of the underlying cause, and work to heal that as well. For lack of a better example at the moment, if a child cuts themselves with a knife, we address the wound first. Yet, we also look to remove the knife or cutting tool and work towards clarity in why care should be used...the underlying cause, although there could be more.

Adding to this, when prayers, request, healings are ask for...we all respond differently. Using myself as one example, I can take it "into myself", for directing to the need, then I overload the situation with abundant love, until I "feel" it is completely consumed with love...and I don't mean simply thought, but really feel the energy finding it's "place" or target. Once I've done that, I'll continue to feed the flow of love as it comes back to mind.

I have simply used one of many methods. Someone else may pray and ask, still another may respond in more of a "hands on" way. It is the love I and others send which feeds the energy to the hands on person, and feeds those "powering up" their prayers and "focusing pure intent".

I love taking pictures, just check myspace pics, yet, I'm not what you might call a "pro". Though I'd love to do it, and have the ability for the clarity and beauty rendered, especially of black and white print. A pro, or someone who does it for their living addresses it in a different way, they see differently, approach "doing" in a whole other way. They even "possess" the "tools".

This can be said of healing as well. Althought I know of the many methods and completely uncertified or otherwise educated in the processes of it, other than what I soak up in my studies of it, I tend to focus in and be "better" at one, the sending of love. The sending of energy.

I think what I'm trying to drive at is, when asked, we respond to it differently. While it can be one of us, it is usually all of us that effects the hole of it. One with energies, another with tools, and another with method. We all see the end result and reach it through different paths.

So, what's that got to do with the above article? Ahhh... frankly, I forgot....but I think it had to do with the spiritual relationship of the "root causes" that may have been why there is an illness or injury. And that also must be healed, counseled about, to prevent, and even to aid in healing.

Be silent, listen, see, feel, respond, love.
