Fist I want to say thank you to everyone that responded to my previous

email titled " aching mommy heart " . You all were so beautifully

supportive and kind with your words. Thank you from the bottom of my

heart! I'm here to say that though last week was a really really down

and difficult week with autism in our lives this week has drastically

changed. Cameron has been " on " and you all know what I mean by that!

It has been such a wonderful week...eye contact, spontaneous words all

on his own without prompting or begging for that matter! He has had a

great week at school with increasing interaction with other kids!

Hooray! He has been so extra loving and gazing into our eyes. That

look deep into our eyes that really means something! It makes you just

want to cry! Since he was sick with a cold last week he wouldn't take

his daily dose of his Risperdol as of last weekend (we usually hide it

in apple juice but he had no interest in drinking it so we didn't push

it)yet noticed he was still having good days and did not see an

increase in negative behaviors. We thought we would try to keep him

off of it this week as well. I talked to his teachers to please note

any changes and I'm here to tell you he is doing really well. We hope

this continues and that we can keep him off of the Risperdol because

we have never been too happy about having to give him this or any

medication but were desperate as of last year so tried it. Anyway, my

point in writing all this is to remind myself and all parents that

yeah we will have really difficult days no doubt but that for sure

there will be another day ahead & the sun will shine on us and our

children and we will have those absolutely glorious days that our

children will make our hearts swell with so much love and happiness!

Even over something so simple as a beautiful gaze into your eyes, or

simple words asking for something. Things other people take for

granted. These simple tasks make the day great and give you strength

that will pick you up and carry you to move forward with this journey.

I know the tears I shed last week were needed but today I feel so

charged and hopeful again. Thanks to you all for being here and

understanding.

Lynette
