Guest guest
Hi, I have subscribed to this group for around four years and it has been such a help! We're currently wondering about some information and wonder if anyone has had experience with this!!?? My daughter (16) has OCD and mood swings and is on Lexapro, Abilify, lithium and a small amount of Seroquel. The Abilify has caused a large weight gain, LOTS of hunger issues and also a fasting blood sugar of 102 at last lab work. Her pdoc suggested we ask pediatrician about Glucophage, a medicine for diabetics thats also supposedly used off label to help with weight gain . He said she qualified since blood sugar of 101-140 is supposedly prediabetic. But, pediatrician wont do it, they dont give prescriptions for off label uses, she says no one near here will use Glucophage until blood sugar is 140. (yes, we are trying exercise and diet as well but the driving hunger thing is very difficult to deal with. . ) Has anyone else used this Glucophage (metformin)? Does it help much with hunger and/or weight? Or have any suggestions for the ongoing hunger feeling in a teen? Hate to change her meds since this combination has been very successful for her issues. . . . Appreciate any input on this!
