Guest guest
We use Houston's enzymes Zyme Pryme for the gluten issues. Works great for us. However, reading DeFelice's book or Lipski or McCandless or Seroussi will provide immense insight as to what you are experiencing, may experience and how to counter act it, when to wait it out. I wish you lots of luck. Advice needed Hi all. I have just joined this group. I have a five year old son with high functioning Aspergers. We have been trialing a gf diet for a month now. I have recently heard about products that can eliminate the need for a gf diet or at the very least pick up 'accidental' gluton foods. My son has severe and sometimes violent tantrums and I would have to say that behavoural concerns are the main reason why we went gf. I would really appreciate any advice on products. I live in Australia. Debbie
Guest guest
Hi Debbie We use AFP, Zyme prime and No Fenol all from Devin Houston. We are still partially GFCF but slowly adding foods. Dairy tolerance is slower than gluten in our case. There is an increasing number of Australian families using these enzymes, so good luck. The delivery is reliable and payment can be arranged via credit card safely. You can email or 'phone Devin Houston with particular queries and he is prompt to reply/return calls. fee free to contact offlist if you would like to chat. Guest guest
Thanks for that info Fran. If you don't mind I have a few more questions. Do you have a web address or contact details for Devin Houston. Would you mind telling me what each product is for and whether they are safe to use for a 6 year old. A lot of people seem to use Peptizyde as well, is AFP the same thing? Is one of those products an enzyme? Have you seen improvement since using the products, particularly in the area of behaviour. Thanks in advance. It is all a bit confusing. Debbie Re:Advice needed Hi Debbie We use AFP, Zyme prime and No Fenol all from Devin Houston. We are still partially GFCF but slowly adding foods. Guest guest
Fran, I hope you don't mind but I have a couple more questions How long does the order take to get here if you use your credit card and order online? I am guessing that you about double the online cost, is that right? What sort of dosage should I start with. I ordered the three that you use. Can I mix them in a drink or similar before school for him to have at snack and lunch time or do they deteriate over that time. Thanks again. Please tell me if I am being a pain. Guest guest
, Did you have any symptoms of overstimulation? Rapid heart beat, dizziness upon rising, sweaty palms, Or did she just go by the numbers? My doctor does not just look at numbers, she keeps track of my symptoms. She allowed me increases in medication until my symptoms began to subside. Watching for signs of overstimulation. I really did not begin to feel like myself again until I reached 200mcg of Synthroid. I also take 25mcg of T3 daily. I was on Armour first a year ago. It was too irregular for me. The fatigue never really was resolved either. I have also been sleeping much better on the increased amount. Probably because more seratonin gets where it is supposed to now. Anyway, have you discussed symtom resolution with your doctor at all? I dont see how taking you off medication all together is going to benefit you. Unless you were really over the edge with it. Chriss.
Guest guest
She wants to clean you out of all your hormones that she overdosed on you and start fresh with new tests---boy from 15mg to 150mg is a big jump--she totally messed up here, so she has no choice but to take you off of it and get all new numbers to go by. (lab results) If you start to get really sick before this time limit--call her and get in sooner and or ask to go back on armour but at a low dose and then titrate upward ---increasing slowly and then backing down when you have symptoms of too much---I just posted that a few posts ago--- print it so you know what to expect. With any drugs even asprin you can have side effects---anytime you guys feel anything funny call the doctor---stop taking whatever it is and call----it's not your imagination--these drugs can do damage if you overdose on them ---Just my opinion---read the labels as well!!!!!! tina -- In hypothyroidism , " " <blondiewolf2000@h...> wrote: > I was wondering if anyone may know if what my doctor has done with my > medication is common... > > I have been struggling with a low thyroid for some time and started > with a new doc who I thought really knew how to help me. Guest guest
My first visit with her she said she wanted to see how I feel before really looking at the numbers. Then later she seemed more interested in the numbers. She was concerned about my pituitary gland shutting down. When I was on a higher dose of 120 I did have rapid heart beat. When I went down to 90 I don't remember having a rapid heart beat. But, something didn't feel right? I don't know how to explain it. I was putting weight on too. Maybe the Armour was causing some side effects? I don't know? This past week I have been getting a deeper voice, having chills, putting weight on, losing eyelashes and hair. I also have been a very bad emotional wreck! Like I am losing it! Today I took some of my armour and this evening I felt maybe a little better, unless it was my imagination. It is hard to say...I may need more than one day to start to feel better. I have been off of the meds for a little over two weeks now. I don't know what the numbers are from the tests, I still need to get them. I am planning on maybe seeing a new doctor in December who is suppose to be good. It looks like he does other tests, not just the TSH. Thanks for your help. > , Did you have any symptoms of overstimulation? Guest guest
Please give us all your symptoms and anything else you could tell the group---low tempertures?? low blood pressure--I am just confused at how she would say your pituitary gland is shutting down?? It could malfunction but it would not shut down. Get all your tests results tell them you want them or will pick them up or fax them --anything and get to another doctor right away--you can't go on living like this. Don't wait another day. tina > > , Did you have any symptoms of overstimulation? Guest guest
I think your doctor is an idiot. Val in Boulder, CO -----Original Message----- From: [mailto:blondiewolf2000@...] I was wondering if anyone may know if what my doctor has done with my medication is common... I have been struggling with a low thyroid for some time and started with a new doc who I thought really knew how to help me. At first I was on too low of a dose of Armour when I started with this doctor. She put me on a higher dose because it was too low. I was on 15mg of Armour then she put me on 120mg. After blood work the results came back that it was too high. So she cut me back to 90mg. Then after another blood test, that came back too high also. So now my doctor has taken me completely OFF of medication for 6 to 8 weeks and then another blood test will be taken at that time to see where I am at. Is that common to take you off of medication completely? If anyone can help me with this that would be great! Thank You!
Guest guest
I don't know what my temperatures are. I will start taking them again. They used to be low. Some of my symptoms are: tired, but not extremely, but I always want to drink coffee to get me going. I don't have the desire to do things, not much of an appetite, dry skin, forgetful, weight gain, swollen feet, emotional, and depressed. But I also do suffer from depression and I am on medication for that. I think I might be starting to get irritable. I have always had low blood pressure. I can't get the test results till next week. The new doctor I want to see is booked and I have to wait till Dec. when I have my appointment. I don't know if this helps. I will start taking the temps. Guest guest
Too much testosterone will cause your voice to deepen, which is why she thinks you have a pituitary problem, most likely. As well as it sounds like you have adrenal fatigue as well, also relates to pituitary. Look into www.adrenalfatigue.org We have a lot of sites on this illness that can be mixed into thyroid symptoms. And many here have both adrenal and hypo together. It's very common but ususally missed by a doctor. Your depression can also be a side effect from these illnesses. You need to educate yourself on your health so you can talk to your doctor especially if you are stuck with her. Read as many posts as you can, it will sink in sooner or later. and you need to find out what kind of thyroid problem you have--- Everyone here will help, so many here have a lot of knowledge and experience!!! take care---tina > > , Did you have any symptoms of overstimulation? Guest guest
sounds adrenal. Doctors do love those antidepressants but you wouldn't need them if you got good treatment for thyroid/adrenals. GRacia > I don't know what my temperatures are. I will start taking them > again. Guest guest
You cannot dose to the TSH test, it's ridiculous, you need to go by how you feel, especially on Armour. Anyway needs adrenal support. Guest guest
Well you know the doctor here is just protecting herself since she gave you too much thyroid--I don't think you should go without if you become very sick--better to get a new doctor and start over. -- In hypothyroidism , " Gracia " <circe@g...> wrote: > > You cannot dose to the TSH test, it's ridiculous, you need to go by how you > feel, especially on Armour. Guest guest
Nikki - I'm sorry, I didn't see your other post - is Connor's eye pushed shut because of the band hindering it? Or when you take the band off is it still shut?? Definitely sounds like you need an adjustment. If it is that uncomfortable for Connor so that he can't even see, I would leave it off until you can get yourself in for an adjustment. I cannot believe that no one is there to help you - that's awful. I'm not sure what others would do, but if it were me, I would discontinue the use until it can be fixed. If it doesn't seem to be bothering him, then I'm sure it's okay to leave it on (he'll just have a squished eye). I still feel like if the band is that much "ill-fitting" than it's probably not doing as much good as it should be, so keep it off... I'm sure others will chime in. Guest guest
My son had trouble w/ his eye swelling for a few days in his DOC Band. But it was only after sleeping and it went away when he was up and around. Our OT at Cranial Tech said this was actually a pretty normal thing, as long as it was going away. If your son's swelling is going away when he is up, I would probably leave on the band. But if it is there all the time and seems to be getting even worse while he is up, I would take off the band. Guest guest
Nikki, If the helmet is pushing the eye shut, I would keep it off until you can see the new orthotist. That is not the best way to start treatment. At the site where my son receives treatment, there are 2 ladies who work with the helmets, but there are a few others who can help with emergency adjustments. I am surprised that they do not have a backup/emergency plan. -----Original Message-----From: dnajtc99 [mailto:dnajtc99@...]Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 4:03 PMPlagiocephaly Subject: Advice neededI wrote yesterday about my son Connor's first day wearing his Starband and having his right eye pushed almost shut.
