A POEM FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

Dear Mommy, don't you cry nowand Daddy, don't you weep.I want to whisper in your earbefore I go to sleep.I know that when I came hereI seemed perfect in every wayand you were so proud Daddywhen you held me on that day.And Mommy when you kissed meand wrapped me up so tight,I felt as if I belonged here,and everything was rightWhen things got really scaryand I began to slip awayI saw your face, dear Mommyas you knelt by me to pray.And Daddy, I always noticewhen you wipe away a tear,or watch the other little boysas they run and laugh and cheer.I may not be able to tell youhow much I love you so,or even show you how I feeland what I really know.But when you hold me Mommyat night when all is stillI hear your dear heart beatingand I know that all is well.And Daddy when you take meto the park, to run and playI know that you still love methough the word's I cannot say.So Daddy don't you cry nowand Mommy don't you weep,I want to tell you somethingbefore I go to sleep.I may be sort of different,and you may not understandI know that I am not that childthat you and Daddy plannedBut I love you both so very muchand I know you love me tooand one day when this life is doneYou will feel my love for you.I know the future is unknownand you will always have to be,the ones who love and listenand take good care of me.The road we walk is rough sometimesand you cry a lot of tears,but one day we will turn and laughas we look back o'er the years,So Mommy don't you cry nowand Daddy please don't weepI want to say, I love youbefore I go to sleep

OH my gosh that made me cry. I am going to use this to put into s scrapbook. I love it. Where did you find this poem?

i am a one:one aide with an amazing young boy, his mom and i have become good friends and occasionally she sends me things, this was one..
