Guest guest
My son is almost nine and has been diagnosed with ADD, anxiety and OCD. He sees everything in black in white (no gray areas for him - cannot understand sarcasm, etc) and is a real stickler for rules. He is also very competitive and since he follows the rules feels that everyone else should as well. Unfortunately, when others don't follow the rules, he has meltdowns. At 9, he is getting a little too old for this behavior and I am afraid his classmates will disassociate from him. (He goes to a wonderful school- and is part of a EH Collab classroom although his is basically mainstreamed for most of the day in his regular classroom - but it is in another town - with weekend and afterschool activities it is hard enough to get afterschool playdates, I hate for him not to have any friends at school). Any ideas on how I can get him to ease up? He is meeting with a new therapist next week (he last one, who he loved, moved out of town) and I am hoping she might have some ideas.
