Dear Joanne,I hope you don't mind me picking your brain a little on this. Please ignore if you do.My dog, who is probably about 10 years old (a shelter adoption 3 years ago), a ian Ridgeback, German Shepherd mix, is having seizures. Took him in today and is hypoglycemic. He has been having episodes of weakness for the last 6 weeks or so, which we thought was just of the back legs, looked due to lumbar disc disease, but now seems clear that it was due to episodes of hypoglycemia as well. Anyway, what can you tell me about hypoglycemia in dogs? The vet we are seeing today tells me it is likely an insulinoma. He had 2 seizures this am and had two more while at the vet's. I am on my way to take him to the critical care vet's now. Thanks for any insight you can shed.

Regards,Lonna

Oh, by the by....the ian Ridgeback dog is notorious for getting tumors and sometimes very unusual ones. They came from a very narrow gene pool and seem to be unable to fight DNA variances off. JoanneSubject: vet question for joanneTo: Date: Saturday, September 13, 2008, 10:30 AM
