Guest guest
Is it common for parents of ASD children to go through any type of counseling, ie. family, that dealt with just the experiences of the parent? Lately, I've been so very frustrated with my son's condition (PDD-NOS) and behavior (stimming, hyperactivity, defiant) that I just don't know what to do or where to go to just vent. My husband and I rarely talk about it. He feels that our son will out grow this behavior. I on the other hand is a basket case. All the 20 minute screaming tantrums and failed attempts at potty training have made a crazy person. Add in the good intentions of uniformed family members and teachers makes matters worse for me. My family and I have moved twice in three years (bcs of work) and we don't have that many people close to us, physically and figuratively, that would truly understand us. The message boards help a lot with the isolation I sometimes feel but it isn't a good substitute for a therapist. Please, if any of you have advice about or has gone to a therapist I'd like to know if it helped you. Thanks
