I use a product called gabba calm and it helps calm during the day. At night, along with 1mg. of melatonin, it helps my kids sleep. Sharon(moderator)

Hi Sharon- do you get gabba calm at your HFS? or where? I know

Kirkman's sells GABA. I've just started using 1 mg of melatonin with

Bridget. We must be very blessed indeed because we have no where

near the sleep issues that many do. Once or twice a week Bridget

really has trouble going to sleep and I decided that if I could do

something about it, I should. So far it's working well. Thanks,

Deanna

-Hi Meg- if GABA is made by adding B6 to your diet how does that calm

anyone down? My daughter was on SNT and it was over the top for

her. I did cut it to two/thirds and she was okay. Yes, Kirkman's

sells a product called GABA. I'll go back to the website and check

on the info. Thanks, Deanna

Deanna, it regulates your nerves, it needs to be taken in small dosages. b6 does a lot of dif. things too, but it is always good for nerves. b6 joins up with glutamate decarbolase (sic) to make gaba (to much glutamate is bad for your nerves), so without b6, you end up with too much glutamate, and not enough gaba. be careful though, too much b6 can cause you to become dehydrated, and damage your nerves. 10 or 20mg daily is usually the max. (less for kids). meg

We haven't used Gaba with Karac, but I have talked to the father of an autistic daughter who gives it to her on special occasions when he thinks a situation might be stressful for her, and he said it was effective. I use Gaba with my grandson. I use it along with inosotol. It works great. It has really made a big difference in his hyperactivity. His DAN doctor said I could give him 500 mg 3 times a day. I purchased the Gaba from Kirkman's and it's only 250 mg. I started with 250 mg and I give it once or twice a day depending on his behavior. I've never had to give it more than that. The inosotol also came from Kirkman's and I use two of their scoops with the Gaba. Hope this helps. I think sensory input has helped him a lot along with the Gaba.

Good luck and God Bless.
