Guest guest
Terri, from my experience, the answer is no. Not that I don't think autism awareness is important, but when I hear that 1 in 150 have it, I often think, " Well, 1 in 100, or possibly even more have OCD, but it's relatively ignored " . I say possibly even more, because I've read that a lot of people hide it well, so the stats are hard to be specific with. I think it might be somewhat ignored because people don't realize how debilitating it can be. Most think it is just something that makes a person quirky. There does need to be more awareness, and there needs to be more professionals available to treat people correctly too. My two cents worth. Guest guest
Terri, I could not agree with you more! I just hate it when some will flippently say I have a little ocd b/c I like things clean. I just scream to myself YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT OCD IS! I usually just casually say " There's a lot more to it than that! " But it just burns my britches when I hear that stuff.
