Guest guest
Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and it is the hardest thing we've ever gone through. He seems soooo much worse. We do not have a good antifungal in place but should be receiving one on Monday/Tuesday next week. We did get his OAT and comprehsive stool analysis back and he is FULL of yeast. Please tell me the behaviors will get better once the yeast is under control. He is frantically lining things up around the house and screaming when things do not go his way. We're definitely at rock bottom here ... gfcfmom
Guest guest
I have 2 boys (ll months apart, 3 and 4) that are doing the same exact thing! It is all I can do to function. I am so exhausted from trying to keep them from destroying my house. We have an anti-fungal on board and we just ramped it up a bit because we weren't seeing results (Nizoral, 100 mg/mL). Now they are almost uncontrollable! I have seen on this board that it gets better, but man, I hope it subsides soon. I was seeing some mild gains, but my youngest (and worst) seems to be regressing a lot right now. I have a feeling their clostridia is getting out of control. But, I feel your " pain " LOL! Hopefully, we both will get some relief soon! Rhonda > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and it is the hardest thing > we've ever gone through. Guest guest
My son is now almost completely on SCD - I say almost because I still give him a tiny amount of apple juice in order for him to take his supps - otherwise he won't take them. We have GREATLY reduced complex carbs and sugar from his diet - this also coincides with his crazy behavior so maybe some of it is withdrawal but he is definitely way worse at this point. > > > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and > it is the hardest thing > > we've ever gone through. Guest guest
In our case, it was yeast. We went SCD and started Valtrex and Nizoral in December...after a handful of nice weeks, our entire February was a nightmare. My 4 year old was a complete mess for almost the whole month. We then pulled bananas, juice and all honey and are bouncing back. This was hell, but was better than what had been happening. We now do modified SCD and have really upped our probiotics. We also make sure that my son has NO sugar. Not easy, but we are doing much better. > > > > > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and > > it is the hardest thing > > > we've ever gone through. Guest guest
Matt did ALL that and mroe when he was full of yeast...bacteria presents as more aggressive and throwing things, dumping, and screaming in some kids....they can go hand in hand, but you are both probably dealing with BIG yeast right now...to shorten your vacaction in hell cut out ALL foods that feed yeast as that will just prolong your agony, seriously. We did the soup broth and intro of the SCD with no honey and only one piece of fruit a day and it was a HUGE help...though Matt would not eat most of the foods that other parents rely on for that diet. No Fenol enzymes can help when given btw meals on an empty stomache, UP the probiotics, change antifungals if 100 of Niz does not make a dent in the next week or so after BIG diet change...that is the most crucial thing, for at least a week, to assist those antifungals rather than feed and create stronger more resilient strains...knowck it out with a BAT...that is whta Stan told us when he battled the same thing in his son. Matt used to run into the street, would not come when called, climbed, jumped, raced in circles so I am feeling you....as for the mom on valtrex with NO antifungal in place...yeeps. These files and Stan's paper conclude that is a diastrous course of action sa the antivirals stir up yeast, big time....people end of dropping the antiviral bc they cannot take the yeast issues if they do one without the other. Hope this helps...NO sugar, scd legal foods only, enzymes, RX antifungal, fermented foods as in BED if you can get those in...and good probiotics...things should change radically for both of you in less than two weeks...the yeast issues will not be gone, but the worst of the behaviors and lack of impulse control will...LOL > > > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and > it is the hardest thing > > we've ever gone through. Guest guest
hi Di, we are dealing with HUGE yeast issues AND bacteria. I just got the test results back last week. Meds will arrive on Monday/Tuesday and I hope it gets better. I am working on the diet but it's tough with his sensory issues. Thanks!! gfcfmom > > > > > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 > and > > it is the hardest thing > > > we've ever gone through. He seems soooo much worse. Guest guest
The ASD kids should not be on valtrex without a good yeast medicine. Diflucan works great for us. I would stop the valtrex and get the yeast under control. You can start grapefruitseed extract from whole foods market until your other yest medicine arrives. Also give lots of probiotics. We have had succes using three lac as well. The best thing for fighting yest and keeping it at bay is to constantly rotate your yeast fighters and probiotics every 4 days. --- gfcfmom wrote: > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are > amplified by 1000 and it is the hardest thing > we've ever gone through. Guest guest
We have been going thru the same with our teenager. Really bad behaviors that we thought were over came back and I couldn't figure what I was doing wrong but now realize it was probably die off because we had been doing OLE and GSE and VSL3. Last week, we started Primal Defense and that has been huge. Within an hour, I noticed this look in his eyes that something was happening. He has been much calmer since starting that and I have increased the dosage to three times a day and in between try to give either GSE or OLE. I also have been battling a candida problem in my sinuses and I started the Primal Defense and for the first time in 8 months was able to sleep thru the night without getting up to clear my nose. It's incredible stuff. I have to take it often though to stay on top of it ( I also take GSE in between and I don't even think about eating sugar. I have tried to limit the carbs also and I finally feel like I am getting my life back. It's weird that I developed this condition that is actually helping me treat my son. My son is much better but for a while, we were in daily hell never knowing if it would ever get better. I also increased the b12 shots to every other day instead of twice a week. My son seems to respond well to them and actually likes the shots?! I might go every day on that. Guest guest
Yes, it will get better once the yeast is under control.  How long have you been on Valtrex without an antifungal?  You really need to get your antifungal on board.  It sounds like you are seeing a lot of die off and your yeast is climbing.  You'll go through die off again when you start your antifungal.  After about a week or two you should start seeing everything calm down.  Hang in there, it'll get better!  Btw, what antifungal are you getting - please don't tell me Nystatin!cherylSince starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and it is the hardest thing we've ever gone through. Guest guest
Nystatin is a nonsystemic antifungal and a poor choice for use with antivirals.  You need a systemic antifungal like Nizoral or Diflucan.  CherylI was just curious, what is wrong with Nystantin? Guest guest
Nystantin only works in the gut. Diflucan works systematically everywhere. Valtrex creates more yeast you have to be on an antifungal. Nystantin is good on its own but not enough when on Valtrex. Sometimes you may even need both when on Valtrex is what I am told. If you are already on Diflucan and going back to Nystantin is probably because your yeast is more under control. I know that the Diflucan is harder on the liver than Nystantin. Jodi Re: How much of autistic behaviors are caused by yeast?? I was just curious, what is wrong with Nystantin? Can you email me please? My son's dr. is probably going to put him in that, he is on diflucan right now.> > > Since starting Valtrex my son's behaviors are amplified by 1000 and > > it is the hardest thing> > we've ever gone through.
