Guest guest
I have had EMDR therapy and it is usually for individuals who have experienced trauma like veterans who return from home. It is my understanding that it was used successfully with Vietnam Veterans. I am not a veteran but was exposed to trauma and found EMDR to be effective. I have a child (16 years) who has OCD and EMDR was never an option posed by his therapist. My son's therapist has only used cbt. HRW MA EMDR??? I spoke to this therapist Friday and she said she specializes in EMDR and she does a little EMDR, I never heard of this type of therapy. I know cbt/erp is the only therapy for ocd. I pulled it up and it says something about eye movements I'm going to do more research but I wonder if you guys ever heard of it. The therapist swears by it, and she says she has had alot of success with her patients. We have done cbt but only with a traditional therapist for 2 years. We really didnt get anywhere I think the therapsit really didnt know how to do it. So I think were going to try this! I want to say to all of you.We can do this !!!! And Thanks for responding it truly helps when you feel blue.

Guest guest
In our years of desperation, not knowing what the correct therapy was for OCD. . . We had one therapist who tried this with our son. It had no effect whatsoever. My two cents worth. BJ > > > > I have had EMDR therapy and it is usually for individuals who have > experienced trauma like veterans who return from home. Guest guest
Hi. The CBT must be specific to OCD, which includes ERP. Was the therapist using ERP? If not, that might be why there wasn't any improvement. The ERP is crucial. Our son has tried many, many things over the years, with many therapists. . .But he is using ERP now, and having improvement for the first time in his life. It can be hard to find someone who specializes in the treatment of OCD, and it took us a long time to find someone who knew what they were doing, but it was worth the search.
