Guest guest
Dear Rusty, I believe some of us from the North ancestry do have enzymes to absorb calcium from milk. I just haven't drunk much of it the past four years and my teeth show it. Where do you find a list of acid-producing foods as well as alkali-producing foods? Kombucha Tea is supposed to have an alkalizing effect. Blessings on you all. LOve. MArge.
Guest guest
<I believe some of us from the North ancestry do have enzymes to absorb calcium from milk. - Did have. After the age of weaning from mother's milk we begin to lose the ability to produce these enzymes. However, if one has been drinking milk DAILY since weaning you may be able to postpone the process but 3 or 4 days off and you'll be like the rest of us. If the milk is fermented that part of the enzyme activity will have been done and the product is much more easily digested and actually in smaller amounts can be alkalizing. Good fermented sources are , yogurt, kefir, viili, cottage cheeze and buttermilk. - >Where do you find a list of acid-producing foods as well as alkali-producing foods? - http://www.thewolfeclinic.com/acidalkfoods.html Please note that on the chart most beans and pulses are acidifying but when SPROUTED they become alkalizing. And the chart puts Organic milk in the alkalizing column when it should read Fermented milk. >Kombucha Tea is supposed to have an alkalizing effect. - Slightly, but it definitely does not have an acidfing effect even though it has a low pH. Lemons are the same, Acidic to taste but alkalizing in the body. - MArge, as Milk is such a predominat factor in your diet I suggest you go to Doc. Mercola's site and enter " milk " in the google search bar at the top. You'll find lots of eye opening stuff. http://www.mercola.com/ rusty " Milk is NOT the way to absorb calcium after the age of weaning. " OT. Guest guest
Hi Rusty, I missed the original post so I am replying to the response... There is no problem with absorption if the milk is raw. It then comes naturally with the proper enzymes to digest milk. One of th reasons sol many people are allergic to milk is because it has been pasteurized. The other reason is that in most traditional countries, adults drink raw fermented milk which makes it very easy to absorb. maria.
