Guest guest
My child is 4.5 yr old and 34 lb. We are going to start Nizoral and Valtrex 2 weeks after that. I was wondering what are the doses generally prescribed for nizoral and valtrex.? I heard that valtrex might need to be given for several months but I was wondering about the antifungal since it can hurt the liver. How long can one give nizoral safely? Also, is the antifungal changed often? My son was on diflucan for past 2 months. It has helped him greatly with focus/attention initally for half a month, but didn't seem as effective now. Thanks a lot. Rohini
Guest guest
This is not a short term therapy. The dosage for a 4.5 yr old will probably be around 750 - 1000 mg, split into 3 doses per day. Antifungals can be taken indefinitely so long as it's not raising liver enzymes which is why you must check the blood at least every 2 months. My son has been on antivirals/antifungals for 1.5 years.CherylMy child is 4.5 yr old and 34 lb. We are going to start Nizoral and Valtrex 2 weeks after that.
