, you are so right. Sleeping alone is a battle that pops up once

in a while at our house too. It is so easy to get blindsided by it--it seems

so innocent when asks " will you lie down with me for a little while? "

but we have learned to not do it. We make up an excuse and make sure that we

return to check on her as promised because once she has us, it's all over and

she won't sleep unless we go through the whole deal. If we don't lie down with

her, she sleeps fine. Kelley in NV

My doctor and pharmacist recommended Benedryl since their are

no side effects. They suggested a half hour before she goes to bed.

Many families use Melatonin. I am not sure what the dose is. You would have to

google it.

chamomile tea, used for " colic " since he was an infant, but

sparingly,

and no sweetener or milk, then. At age two it was more a " treat " ,

with

a as little sweetner as I can (we use honey, which is ok unless you

have never given him honey and don't know if he has an allergy, then

ask pediatrician AND just a note re honey, NEVER FOR BABIES UNDER TWO

YEARS! (I know they say one year; I just stretched it out to be extra

safe)) and milk (we use skim and no milk ok if allergy to milk). He

prefers lukewarm to warm; not very warm and never hot of course,

unless

he is uncomfortable due to being too warm from the weather, or a

fever,

then cooler. For myself, I prefer the " SleepyTime " but it has so

many

other herbs in it which the pediatrician wasn't comfortable with and

neither am I. Some people have used another herbal item which comes

in

a tablet or capsule; can't think of name but there was a warning

about

that one recently, oh yes, it might have been kava? but I wouldn't

try

it on a child as it CAN give an adult a kind of drugged feeling. You

could ask your doc if tryptophan was ok; she what she/he says.

Try melatonin. It has worked great with my son..1mg and you can get it at Walmart.

We have used many brands I just check to be sure they are GFCF and wont mess up my sons diet..

Melatonin hyped my child up ~ but it obviously works well w/ others.

I guess it's one of those things you just need to try and hope it's

the thing to address the issue.

I didn't fine it wired her up but depending on her mood...

it helps her sleep within a half hour and other time's it did

not make her sleep. When she is having her monthly cycle I find it

doesn't seem to work as well since she very cranky. Every child

is so different. My doctor also prescribed SEROQUEL to help her sleep

but I decided not to try it since I didn't like the side effects that

sometimes come with it.

experience with it making your child wired?  I don't  know if I'm

imagining it, but mine seems to wire up on it...
