That is exactly what happened to my son. After living a substantially improved life for a number of years, he went to bed one night with a headache and literally woke up the next day a different person. Please INSIST that your pediatrician screen carefully for pathogens that can cause behavior disturbances, including mycoplasma, candida, toxoplasmosis, herpes viruses, and lyme disease. Thats a short list of suspects, but there are many other possible pathogens that could precipitate such an event. Even if you cant find an infectious agent, consider a trial with the antimicrobial of your choice. what happened with my son is that he came down with pneumoniam and every time he was on antibiotics his "Psychiatric" symptoms improved. within a week of being off of the drug, the symptoms would come back. Finally, our family physician ran tests, she found the infection that had wreaked such havoc. In

's case, it was toxoplasmosis. elaineboby wrote: >Years ago I met a nine year old who had been high functioning (dxedwith mild aspergers) who had regressed into severe autism. Theparents were constantly at hospitals getting every test to no avail ofcourse. I had just started biomed for my son who was three or so, andencouraged her

to do the same. I never saw them again but rememberthe late regression being so strange and the parents had no idea as towhat brought it on. Maybe it was a virus.Just a thought, I'm sure you'll find the answer but it must be veryscary. I know after my son suffered his initial regression intoautism the thought of more regression is paralyzing.Elaine

I will send you more information this evening when I get out of work. Are you anywhere near North Carolina? I know of a DAN dr here who is far less expensive than what you were quoted. Mead wrote: THANK YOU!! I am so glad I found this site! It's been a year of this with no

, what exactly happened when your son regressed? What skills did he lose? Did he develop new odd behaviors? How do you know that he had a virus? If you want to call and talk with me so we can brainstorm, I will be home tonight. My number is 919 373-4455. I can call you if you get charged for long distance, as my phone calling plan includes it for free. pudgeo9999 wrote: Sorry, I live in San franciso, CA!!> >> > Years ago I met a nine year old who had been high functioning (dxed> with mild aspergers) who had regressed into severe autism. I am on the east coast 3 hours behind California time. Weekeds would be better ffor me too probably, as I work online from 8-4:30 your time. Dont let the ped talk you out of doing the tests. They're simple blood tests. Mead wrote: Hi Jean? Where do you live? what time zone? probably be better for me on the weekend. I
