We had invited two our son's old pals from Australia (we lived there for 5

years) to come to the states for 10 days this summer. At the time of the

invitation we were unaware of the severity of N's OCD. As the time approached

we were increasingly more concerned of how N's behavior would play out in front

of his Aussie mates. Our DS has been " in the closet " regarding his OCD; not

even his grandparents know about it.

Well, the kids arrived last Thursday and N (15 years old) has been sleeping

downstairs in the playroom (forbidden territory) to join the party. He has been

walking into the shops near our home with them - another OCD no-no, and swimming

in the pool with abandon (sadly another restriction).

It has been wonderful to see N relatively symptom free for 4 days. I am just

dreading when the boys leave. I am so hoping that he can retain the gains he

has made. He seems like his old self again.
