Guest guest
We had two big moments today: After IBI (ABA) I asked our 5 yo (severely autistic and completely non-verbal) son to cross a crowded hallway to his cubby and put on his boots and coat. HE DID IT!!! I keep asking him to do things before I prompt him and he very rarely responds at all, but this time he actually followed a multi-step instruction. It was also obviously difficult for him to do b/c he is extremely sound-sensitive and it was loud in the hallway. The other parents picking up their children (who appear much higher-functioning) were visibly shocked. It was totally wicked! Also, after kindergarten, he wandered off a bit. When I called him; he charged at me, running with a normal gait and hand posture. He actually pushed the wagon to help me (I was pretending the wind was too strong for me to pull the wagon home in it). He was belly laughing, real laughter instead of drunk giggle. He smiled at me and responded to my laughter. Three or four minutes of bliss. I can't wait for more. Nikolas is 5 1/2 years old. We have been SCD for 7 months. Casein Free for 2 months. MB12 shots 2 months with folinic and TMG. We are on day 5 Diflucan and start Valtrex tonight. I am so thankful for today, and excited about tomorrow. We all need days like this to keep going. Thank you for letting me share with others who REALLY KNOW what this feels like and what it means to us.
