Guest guest
I have done a lot of research on Ginkgo. The brand we settled on is GinkoGold: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=NW-1288 Based on what I have read, we give one 60 mg tablet a day. I give it in the afternoon after school. I mix it in with a mini candy bar and a glass of ice water. I am trying to find more info on upping the dosage. No luck finding any good research on higher dosages in children. Until then it's 60 mg for us. Freddie is only 6 1/2. I will say that before we gave Freddie the Ginkgo we discussed it at length with his pediatrician. There is some research that suggest it should be stopped before surgery because of the blood thinning capabilities. It was nice to bounce the pros and cons off of his doctor. If your child is on any other prescribed meds that's another reason to talk to the pediatrician first. So many herbal remedies interact poorly with prescribed meds. And remember, there isn't a whole lot of research on its use or long term effects in children. nna Mommy to Freddie 6 yrs Full Inclusion Kindy Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God!
