Guest guest
I haven't used Mozilla, but I think a couple people on the list might be using it.You might also consider Google's e-mail.Especially since signing up gives you access to a whole host of other Google free features. They seem to be the big kid on the block that will be around a while. I was thinking of switching to G-mail, but couldn't quite figure out how to upload my old e-mails. I believe there is a way to save old e-mails from outlook into Gmail, but I didn't have the energy to fuss with that right now. http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ http://tinyurl.com/5zap48 https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail & passive=true & rm=false & continue=http%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fhl%3Den%26utm_source%3Den-et-more%26utm_medium%3Det%26utm_campaign%3Den%26ui%3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl & bsv=1k96igf4806cy & ltmpl=default & ltmplcache=2 & hl=en More Google Products Search Alerts Get email updates on the topics of your choice Blog Search Find blogs on your favorite topics Book Search Search the full text of books Checkout Complete online purchases more quickly and securely Google ChromeNew! I have used Outlook in the past, no problems, but am interested if anyone has tried Thunderbird, and if it offers anything more than Outlook. I am currently using the Onebox/Updox connection to receive mail from patients but feel like I would like better management of my Contacts, and also be able to synch to my Palm and my laptop Any input would be appreciated-- thanks, ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Having used (and still using) Thunderbird...very nice program with on going development. Having said that, I must reiterate the previous recommendation to use gmail. Although you could move all of your email hosting to gmail, I simply have gmail check my other accounts for me - everything unified. - Jack > I was introduced to this " free " option yesterday (as opposed to buying a > copy of Outlook) > for my new machine. Guest guest
Thunderbird is pretty good, and my techie husband prefers it over Outlook, but I am used to Outlook, and not interested in changing at this point. Guest guest
How do you get gmail to check your other accounts. I use outlook and a locally hosted email for my primary email, a Yahoo account for " shopping related " stuff, and gmail for my listserv participation. Dividing things up like this has made it easier for me not to miss important things like emails from patients or electronic banking and billing stuff. Now I created another Yahoo account for selling stuff on Craig's List and ebay, and I would love to get gmail to check on that for me and send me a message if/when there is activity on that account. Would save me from having to log onto Yahoo all the time to check. Annie Having used (and still using) Thunderbird...very nice program with on going development. Guest guest
Annie, I didn't think that Yahoo offered a " free " POP access ability, but I double-checked the site. In order to have POP access for your Yahoo account, you have to upgrade to Yahoo plus. For other e-mail accounts, such as those you receive from your ISP, you can simply add these in your Gmail settings. I currently have, I believe, for e-mail accounts that Gmail checks for me and simply set up a series of labels and filters so that I would know which message came from which account and what it's regarding. A better example would be, all mailing list e-mails are tagged with a " mailing list " label. Labels are a bit different than folders, which many of us have traditionally used in organizing our e-mail, however they offer a bit more flexibility as you can assign several labels to a single e-mail message. This is very similar, if not identical to the " Smart mailbox " feature in Mac OS X. I had initially thought about doing this very thing with Yahoo, however I did want to pay for it, i.e. upgrading to the plus account. here's a link to help you get started. <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en & answer=21288> - Jack Skaggs wrote: > How do you get gmail to check your other accounts.
