Guest guest
The is an old " Vulcan Saying " to the affect that " God, Politics, and 'Bodily Functions' (in particular sex) should never be discussed in polite company... Because when they are that company ceases to be polite company. " I my view both sides have valid points... the " by-laws " forbid talking religion and several other topics... I think " Politics " should be included in that list... By All Parties! Aspies do have a tendency to state and interpret things very bluntly (I know I do it even though I try to avoid it), and that can lead to hurt feels that were not intended. I try to keep this in mind when ever I deal with humans of any kind... There have been many times when I make a statement or comment of some kind, only to have it (in my view) mocked and belittled here... That hurts but because I understand that there is a fair chance that the other party or I interpreted something in a way that was not intended... So I keep my mouth shut... On many boards the " Moderators " don't make it a point to advertise themselves a such and generally try to wear two hats... 1) a user that is equal to any other user and 2) the moderator who's job is to maintain order and decorum on the board and not act to support any personal agenda. When an " un-named moderator " does step in it this as a neutral party and not as a user that may have misinterpreted the point the other user was trying to make or simply doesn't agree with. It is not my intention that this be taken as an attack on any one, it is just as an expression of my perception of the way some thoughts, opinion, and people are treated on the FAM groups. When I first joined the groups several years ago I quickly became aware that there were a number of cliques in the group. But then everyone was tolerant enough to allow other points of view. There were genuine discussions of AS and Autism and living with it... of late the discussions are for the most part the politics of Autism and AS... and attempt to get government involvement and support followed by horror over the way the government decides to become involved and trying to change their misguided attempt to " help " that are often pretty much what was asked for by people that didn't understand the consequences of their demands... (High on the list of the " Greatest/Biggest Lies " is " We're from the 'Government' and we are here to 'help' you... " ) There's another old " Vulcan Saying " ... " Be careful what you wish for... You may get it... " I've bubbled enough for now... Since I have spoken in a way that questions the powers that be... " Ban " or " Moderate " me if you want frankly I don't care that much right... I joined the group to practice talking to people in an environment where I hoped being 'Aspie Blunt' might be over looked overlooked but I guess that only the powers that be have that privledge... After reading the post to Ender I now understand what his post was refering to and that the conversation or lack thereof here had nothing to do with his post.
