Guest guest
Professor , I do not know if you have any children or not, in the event that you do, tell me honestly, would you chose to 'kill' the child you NOW know as yours; had he or she been diagnosed with a medical condition AFTER their birth? According to you(and others) they would not be considered 'normal' or worth the trouble, eh? I seriously 'think not'... I believe the reasoning behind society's negative feelings towards Down syndrome primarily stems from the way 'they look', not so much the medical ailments that may or may not accompany all children born with an extra chromosome on the 21st. You and I both know that. Did you forget to mention there are many chromosomal abnormalities of one kind or another that are very common at conception? How about informing them that a significant number of these abnormalities do not allow the embryos to develop, and the result is in spontaneous abortions (miscarriages). Ah, I bet you also forgot to mention that the embryo that is found to be Down Syndrome usually goes on to develop! Why?......................................... Think about it, these babes are champions in their own right. These embryos are survivors and want to change society's views not only about themselves but the millions of children around the world that are born with ANY type of chromosomal abnormality. Its called 'Acceptance'. Tell me, do you share the same ideals towards the hundreds of thousandths of chromosomal abnormalities that are OUT THERE? If you do, then no one would be born... Not even you...or others with that narrow space in between the ears that can not fathom the thought that "ALL are created equal under GOD". E. Reyna smom, and proud of it!!! *Feel free to contact me.
