It takes 2 weeks or so for the medication to build up in your system, so that you can get the full effects. Same as when you stop the medication. it will withdraw from the system. Hope this helps and I will see if I can find at what rate it does decrease from the body. Think Jax may still be without power and Liz was traveling to take her son back to base. Geezz, hope it wasn't too wet of a trip! You home yet, Liz? For what it's worth, Steve, some more info.. Sheena Lexapro has a half-life of 27-32 hours. That means that every 27-32 hours, the concentration of medication in the blood will be cut in half. So after, say, 30 hours, the concentration will be down to 50% of what it started off as, after 60 hours it will be at 25%, after 90 hours it will be at 12.5%, after 120 hours it will

be at 6.25%, and so on. As you can see, it can take several days for the medication to be completely out of one's system. Hopefully, as the blood concentration decreases one will begin to feel better. Every person is different.. Been without power here for as long as 72 hours and thought we'd all lose it for sure. I recall trying to feed tiny infant furries by candlelight, somehow we do get through. Glad you at least have a generator, hang in, they will surely resolve it eventually, hopefully tomorrow, lots of prayers! Ann, your experience is the very reason that I like Lexapro too, it works , it doesnt bury all your feelings but allows you to look at them in a reasonable way.. You wont have any trouble getting off of it as long as you take it very slowly.. thanks for sharing your experience here!!! hugs jax Ann wrote: Hi all, just wanted to add my two cents regarding Lexapro. I have been on Lexapro for two years, during TX and continued on it through my current divorce. I have not esperienced any of the side effects listed, except during TX, but I beleive the low BP and syncope was due to TX meds, not Lexpro. I feel it has decreased my anxiety and sadness very much, not masking my feelings but keeping anxiety at bay. My Dr. has said when I go off we will do so gradually.>>

thats great news steve,, Im so glad you are doing well ,, or at least better! why did he give you albuterol for your breathing? Albuterol is typically given to asthma patients and on the ambulance we used it for those with CHF with pulmonary edema, or for asthma or other causes for shortness of breath that was caused by problems with the o2 crossing the membrane in and out of the lung cells( alveoli),, never heard it used for those who are anemic from low hemoglobin or rbc's that are treatment related, but we learn something new everyday.. just wondered how he felt that the albuterol would help the low rbcs or hemoglobin? did you mean Milk Thistle instead of mild

thistle? Milk Thistle has an anti-inflammatory action on the liver which is probably why your numbers are sooo good! I saw mine drop by almost half before I ever started tx,, its really good for us even tho it wont cure us or lower our viral load, it sure does allow our livers to help us tolerate the virus AND the treatment.. well, keep up the good work.. jax Steve Bridgers wrote: Thanks ya'll. That info on Lexipro really helped. I went to Emory yesterday and my numbers we ALL perfect except my platlet count. I've been on the mild thistle for about three weeks now and my numbers haven't been this good in a long time. In response the the chest pains, the dr says that the ribo causes this by depleting the red blood cells that carry O2 to the heart and other organs. I'm nowhere near anemic but the amount of O2 in my blood is depleated and my heart is having to work harder to supply my body with what it needs. The dr gave me a prescription for an inhailer (albuterol) to use if my breathing becomes too labored. As you know, we on tx suffer from shortness of breath anyway and he is hoping this will help get more O2 into me. I used to walk a lot farther than I can now. Heck, 50 feet and I'm pooped out.... Ok that makes sense,, to dialate your lung cells to maximize the oxygen transfer,, Im glad you have a smart doc,, we all need that,, especially while on tx,, Im glad you have benefitted from the MT,, I did too! Hey, I trust this guy, he really knows his stuff and he and I actually talk about this disease and the new treatments. He told me this should open or dialate the lungs and allow me to breath a little deeper. I'm not anemic, hemo is great (over 15) and my red blood count is still in the possitive area so no treatment for low red blood cells is needed. I'm just tired of being tired all the time.
