Guest guest
" Now, I nearly faced this dilemma. My father let it be know that if I was born with a club foot, like his brother was, or another defect, I would be put up for adoption. This was the time before ultrasound. If those were around and I had a defect, he probably would have demanded an abortion. Newer testing like for As and other things probably would have been the same I'm sure. " This is the mentality of a greater number of people today. They believe they know the value and worth of a person before they are even born. I am sure there were plenty of great minds that the world would never know that have been aborted through thoughtlessness. In the case of autism, we KNOW that there are many intelligent autistics out there ranging from " idiot savants " to " card counters " to folks like Bill Gates. So what the world stands to lose through in- utero genetic testing and subsequent abortion of autistics is quite a bit of knowledge.
