The chapped skin rash

Open questions to anyone who wants to answer... Why do our kids get a

chapped rash on their faces (and other places) even in warm weather?

Is this a due to some deficiency in their bodies? And is there some

way to help this besides various ointments and creams that don't help

for more than a couple days?

I've seen pictures of some of your kids with the red, chapped looking

cheeks, but never had much of a problem. Sure, when he had a

cold, he'd get chapped around his nose and lips. I kept him in most

of the winter because he was getting one cold after another which

always led to asthma complications, so he wasn't exposed to extreme

cold and his skin held up pretty well. But now that warmer weather

has come at last, his cheeks and nose and chin are constantly red and

chapped. It doesn't look the same as my other kids when they would

have chapped cheeks. It's not just reddened skin, there is a rash to

it when you look closely. And there is a similar rash, but without

the reddened skin, on his mid-chest, upper arms, and upper legs.

Assuming it is an issue connected to overly dry skin, I've tried

Aquaphor, Eucerin Plus, Retinol Creme, aloe vera (squeezed from

capsules), and A,D, & E ointment. When I'd put one of these on his

face after his bath and maybe after meals when he's had his face

washed, it would seem to look a little better for a day or two.

Then, it would look bad again and whatever I was putting on it would

no longer help. He takes Nutrivene and other supplements, including

Children's DHA liquid. He gets no dairy, wheat, sugar, soy, corn,

tomatoes, orange juice, or peanut butter, so it doesn't seem like it

could be allergies.

I know has just joined the club and many of you have been

dealing with this for years. So, what's the consensus? Just live

with it?

Thanks! And Blessings!
