Some thoughts/questions...

Where on her face does the rash appear? Many health food stores carry a " map of

the face " which indicates what areas correspond to which body parts.

If the dried fruit you use says " sulphured " switch to un-sulphured (sulphur is a

type of preservatives which makes the fruit retain its pretty color but may

cause health problems.

Avoid the soda, it contains many toxins (plus the aluminum it leaches from the

cans if you buy it in cans). Tap water or filtered?

Any chance gluten plays a role? Oatmeal contains it and most likely the noodles

you use. (Gluten-free noodles available at health food stores made from rice,

corn, or quinoa).

Slim jims may contain lots of preservatives.

Good that she's off of milk. Top food allergens include dairy, wheat, corn,

soy, strawberries, eggs (not necessarily in that order).

Any luck with some veggies? I realize its often tough to get some kids to eat

anything, let alone veggies. Her diet seems heavy on the fruit and carbs which

could feed a candida overgrowth (Has she had many antibiotics?)

Might want to try a rotation diet where you eliminate one food at a time for

several days and see if you notice a difference. That could help you identify

the culprit.

Any chance she also started tooth brushing about this same time? Most

toothpastes contain unhealthy ingredients and young kids tend to swallow some.

Tubes of toothpaste actually carry a warning not to use more than amount the

size of a pea and that swallowing it may pose health hazards!

Dear Listmates:

Although I don't follow this list as thoroughly as others, I know that many

have you have a wealth of knowledge. Because of this I am submitting this

question to you.

My daughter who has recently finally started eating some solid foods: apricot,

fruit medley, peach cobbler, rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, cherry-vanilla-all

being baby food, fries, chicken nuggets, slim jims, lettuce, grapes, cooked

pasta noodles, chocolate, dried apples, dried apricots, and will drink juice

and water and soda when we let her have it. She is now completely off milk

because we took her sippy cup away and she refuses to drink milk out of any

other cup.

About 4 weeks ago she came down with a cold and then started getting a rash on

her face. The rash in three round, red, slightly raised spots about the size

of a dime each.(The cold went away-the rash did not). I spoke with our

pediatrician and she recommended using an anti-fungal creme which we have been

doing. At times the spots start to fade and will start flaking like they are

drying us and then they will get red and raised again. I do suspect a food

allergy, but I have no idea what. I am not using any different detergent or

lotion.

We have also struck out on trying different vitamins because they are so hard

to blend into foods. We tried the gummy bear vitamins, but she hated them.

Any suggestions with what could be causing the rash would be greatly

appreciated.

Thanks,

Jill

Hi Jill:

Don't rule out ringworm. My son got a small round red rash (dime size)

that I took him to the docs about. The doc said that it could be one of

three things, ringworm (which they didn't believe it to be), impentigo

(sp?), the third I can't remember. Anyway they gave me a cream that

would treat the second to. Well his rash looked like it was clearing up

then it started getting worse and worse. Went again and they gave a

different cream. Again the same this continued to get worse. When it

was about the size of a half dollar, I went back and got referred to a

skin specialist. Well she took a small scraping and looked under the

microscope and low and behold, ringworm. They perscribed the proper

cream and within five days it was gone. You would think they would do a

scraping in the first place to rule it out. Go figure.
