Gordon,

I was just on IMPmap this morning and am

WOWed at the number of practices which have been listed since the last time I

looked. The US is really filling up. Pretty cool to be on CNN.

On a more technical/potentially downer

note: Is there a way to find out which of the practices on the IMPmap may no

longer be in service and remove them prior to the media attention??

IMPMap.com

OK folks

IMPMap.com is going to be listed in a story going up this

Thursday on CNN.com.

The story is about what consumers can do about waits and

delays in a doctor’s office.

The reporter asked if there is any list of practices that work

on eliminating waits and delays & I mentioned the IMPMap & she was very

interested.

She wants to give the public an option other than

“suck it up” when the face consistent and intolerable delays.

So a couple of things:

1: If you aspire to the principles of an Ideal Medical

Practice

Superb access

Highly efficient office practice

Patient-centered collaborative care

Care coordination

Be sure to be listed on the IMPMap so the public can find

you.

2: If you are interested in having data to show how

well you are doing on any of these parameters, start measuring patient

experience. One way to measure patient experience at no cost to you is to

jump on the current IMP cohort (email me off list so I can catch you up,

we’re just past the second call).

The public is VERY interested in how well practices perform,

they VERY MUCH want the data and to be able to pick and choose practices based

on these data. If you are wondering if the economic downturn will keep

patients from coming in and wonder how to keep your practice going, consider

using quality data that defines an effective and very attractive office and

doesn’t break your back or your bank.

Hi Gordon,

We are interested in getting on the IMP

map also. We offer:

Same-day

access for acute issues, with minimal wait times in the office

20-minute

appointments (40-60 minutes for physicals/new patients/multiple problems)

Solo

Internal Medicine provider (sharing office with part-time Internal

Medicine/ID provider) with 1 FTE paid staff person and spouse office

manager

Coordination

of care with specialists

Integrated

EMR (e-MDs) for billing/chart/PM; use of RelayHealth for email, appt &

refill requests, webvisits, & lab reporting

High

patient satisfaction, as reported on our annual Patient Assessment Survey

(scoring in the 80-95th percentile on all but 1 category)

In

addition to keeping our own overhead low, we try to keep our patients’

costs low by prescribing generics and avoiding unnecessary tests

You can visit our website at www.prattmd.info for more information about

us.

Thanks!

Hi ,

Another request to be added to the IMPMap -

Elissa -Speach, M.D.

Caritas Family Medicine

1501 East Ave. Ste. 105

Rochester, NY 14610

email: elissaspeach@...

website: www.caritasfamilymed.com

I opened about a month and a half ago, and am actually occupying Gordon's old office space which I share with Lee. My practice set-up is similar to 's - I bought Clemensen's "package deal" for software setup and training, so I'm using AC, ApptQst, onebox, UpDox, etc.(Probably the single best business decision I made for start-up was to hire ). My website espouses the IMP principles of access, efficiency, and pt. centered collaborative care ( and I hope i do too! ). I hope this is enough to qualify me as an IMP. Things are a little slow but picking up, and I could certainly use the publicity of the IMPMap. I just joined this listserv a couple of weeks ago and I know I met several of you at IMP camp this summer; I love hearing about the diversity of the practices. Thanks, , for adding me in -

How does one find out about (and attend) camp before opening a new practice? I'm hoping to open a solo IMP in about a year, and would love to go to camp first - to start on the right foot. I've not officially joined the IMP since I do not have a practice yet (I'm finishing up residency still).

Thanks!

Thanks,

I'll keep an eye out. I'm in Ann Arbor, MI. Mostly big corporations

around here; access seems to be a consistent problem. Thinking a

solo-solo IMP will fill a void.

Still trying to think through the question of taking insurance -

hoping not to eventually, but might have to start by accepting some

and then back off gradually. Would certainly be interested in

anyone's thoughts on the subject.

Oh, and I won't mind flying to Seattle get to IMP camp!

Thanks again!

That's a great resource. Thanks, Jean.

I just discovered another great resource on the main page for this

list-serv, too, under " files " ... Enough to keep me occupied for

some time!
