Guest guest
The main office of the company my husband works for is in NJ. We have considered that state, but the high cost of living and the bad reports about schools has discouraged us from that avenue. Where we are in Stuart, FL the schools have been quite cooperative. We put Faith on the Medwaiver list when she turned 3 so she had it by 7 years old. It is really not necessary for her until high school graduation, but it does give us Medicaid to cover therapy. ette mom to Faith(10)DS -------------- Original message from "a Mesa" : -------------- It is truly a depressing state of affairs in FL. I wish we could leave but the housing market is so bad..tough to sell without selling it for foreclosure price! But if things ever turn around...I wondered what states were better in terms of services for our kids. I know they are the cold states! I have often wondered if we should go back to the Northeast.a

Guest guest
ette, Kaitlyn's been on the waiver as well. We use it for in home supports as well as respite now. In home they take her for bike rides, around the neighborhood to meet friends, walk to the park. Help with homework, her laundry, organize her room, help her make phone calls to friends, things she needs a little extra while I am making dinner etc.. I took an extra person on vacation last summer to NDSCC conference so when I wanted time where I normally would be able to leave a 13 year old they were there. Like going to the Family CAFE in a few weeks, I hope you know about it. A respite provider will meet me at the hotel and take Kaitlyn swimming, to the game room, out to lunch, etc while attend the conference. This person builds friendships and helps her get phone numbers, remember names, order food, manage her money, etc. If you do not know about family CAFE and live in Florida please email me..I am not sure I can give a web site on this list serve but if you google family CAFE in Florida it will come up. A can not miss conference for Florida families. > > The main office of the company my husband works for is in NJ.
