Here is what he has to say:

-- They are no longer needed. Also, probiotics aren't appropriate

during inflammatory stage (i.e. acute diarrhea). First, you have to

heal mucosa, only then you deal with probiotics. And retention enema

is much better option in this case than oral path, because it delivers

probiotics where they are needed, and much faster.

I do not know what a retention enema is and did not ask....but that

explains why my friends kid with diarhea worsened when she tried to

bring in Natren probiotics....
