Guest guest
Good morning, group My son has been on antibiotics/2x per day for 3 wks. or so now....one week left to go before we start 30 days Nizoral. Our DAN didn't advise up to " up the probiotics " but I have had several people tell me I need to do so. I usually give my son one at bedtime. I know you shouldn't give a probiotic with the antibiotic, so should I give 2 at night? Or one in morning, one at night? Probiotics still confuse me. I ordered some Culterelle and also have ThreeLac, but you can't take 3Lac with antibiotics, so maybe I should order a different kind. Do you rotate weekly? Monthly? Also, what should probiotic usage be while using Nizoral?
Guest guest
I've read hear that giving a probiotic before bed is a good idea. First thing in the morning sounds good too. Definitely give it away from your antibiotics. Do be careful of Culturelle if your child is casein free. There is some casein/milk protein in it and so a lot of gfcf kids don't take it. Probiotics are different for everyone and everyone has their own opinion as to what is the best to do/take. Try not to overthink it. Think of it as giving healthy things (like yogurt) without actually giving the dairy laden yogurt itself. High dose probiotics are those with LOTS of CFUs in the ingredients. Some are higher than others. We are currently using one called MindLinx that is a probiotic that actually helps digest casein and gluten. My son is CF only and so I figure some digestive help is a good thing for him. I also use coconut kefir, a tiny amount per day (like 1/4 to 1 tsp. for now). I think he may be getting a stomach ache from it as he has not been eating well since I started it. I did read hear from others who have personally tried probiotics on themselves that they got bad stomach aches so start slowly and increase as your child tolerates them. What does "up the probiotics" mean? Good morning, group My son has been on antibiotics/2x per day for 3 wks. or so now....one week left to go before we start 30 days Nizoral.
