Downer raised about $400 at a concert for the society at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. An Elvis fan since his mid-teens, Downer has performed Elvis songs at a local learning centre, seniors' home and for a family event. Downer, who has Cerebral Palsy and has volunteered at the Rubidge Retirement Home, said prior to his show he knows several people with Alzheimer's and wanted to help. "It's the best feeling, I'm so joyed to do something like that," he said. "They need help now and then." He dedicated "Walk a Mile in my Shoes" to people with Alzheimer disease at the show. Downer and Elyce Bruce, his voice coach, handed over the money raised from the show to the Alzheimer's society Monday.
