Guest guest
I just remembered something that is oddly appropriate given the day. When I was in second grade, our teacher handed out a copy of a children's story, or maybe it was in a textbook, about tiny aliens who landed on earth. They landed in a place where big men formed up in lines and smashes into each other while others ran around chasing each other. All the while they were fighting over an oval spheroid. All around were madly screaming crowds. The aliens thought that they were watching some kind of war or battle and thought the people who were watching such a thing and cheering weren't for them, so they left. The story was written just like these posts, and was very well done. >> Just for fun - a bit of silly fiction.>> >> I have come across a strange human phenomenon. I have noticed that> humans, particularly adult humans have a strange device strapped to> their wrist; usually on the left wrist. I have seen them occasionally> glancing at this device – are they checking to see that it's still> there? What is the significance of this object?I too have noticed this device. After long hours of observing subjectsin the field I've concluded that the device is used by the subjects totrack the Earth's rotation. Subjects seem completely un aware of theirnatural surroundings and are oblivious to all cues given to them by theenvironment. Sad and pathetic as it may seem to us, they simply areunable to function without it. Further research and tests prove thatwhen the device is removed and unavailable to them, they become highlyagitated. If possible, they will hurry out and come back with areplacement. Try as I might to convey the possiblity of using the sun'srays to track the rotation it seems an irrational notion to them. Morestudy is needed and further tests will be necessary.Kim Who's never won? Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
Very good. I remember that too now that you mentioned it. I don't remember what I wrote about though. Guest guest
What I posted was something I wrote for a writing exercise years ago. I'm sat wondering how mobile phones might look to aliens now :-) Well they annoy me anyways. People walking around with devices practically glued to their ears and talking too loudly - or constantly pushing buttons and beep beep noises and the ring tones - need I say more (sigh). > > I remember that story and the assignment that went with it: Write your > own story about some every day occurrence as seen through the eyes of > an alien who would be unlikely to understand what they were seeing. > > Tom > Administrator
